My eldest lad plays for Greetland 1st team & was working yesterday so had to miss the game. He was informed late afternoon that there had been a couple of brawls & it had been abandoned as a result. I've said for the last two seasons, they're a very young side ( Stainland are the same ) who are going through a re-building process and many sides will try to bully them because of their lack of experience. As i wasn't there yesterday I won't pass further comment, but I will add that Sharlo got promoted from Greetland's division last season and they were badly behaved last season also.

Another new side to the Pennine league Woodhouse Warriors ( sic ) tried to bully Greetland at Spring rock earlier this season cos they were being very much outplayed, but when the young lads got stuck back into them & gave them a pasting at the nasty stuff as well they started making verbal threats about visiting their place in the return fixture, they were an absolute disgrace that day.

The Pennine league clowns shouldn't allow these Yorkshire league sides into the Pennine ranks, most of them have crossed over with a history of discipline problems, some of them are unwelcome in their local leagues, they come with trouble written all over them.

I hear half a dozen Elland lads turned out for Heath 3rds yesterday now their winter season is over with.

Just to add to the point of walkover results. I think clubs who run teams with more than one team or who play in the lower divisions should escape hefty fines & point deductions from the Pennine league committees.

It's only social rugby, it's hardly semi pro stuff we're talking about, they should work towards supporting clubs rather than driving lads who want to play at weekends to footy or RU. They're too up their own backsides, and some of the fines quite frankly border on theft. They should consider this before admitting new teams into their system. I watched a lad play for Ovvy 2nds at Siddal against their 2nds who I know for a fact has already played for Irish 2nds & Boothtown already this season cos I've seen him with my own eyes. There are too many clubs, or should I say too many teams to accomodate the number of lads who want to play our game.

Agree on the fines etc Colin, would love to know where that money goes, every meeting the league dish out at least £500 worth of fines. Would the lad in question be Mick Samples?

Greetland game - Greetland was all over sharlston in first 10mins then sharlston got on a roll, then strong running from Greetland seemed to agitate Sharlston, a little scuffle started on the floor and then Sharlston 12 decided after all was calmed down he would punch Greetland's 17 with a rather cheap punch, things got heated from there, aggressive running and tackling from the Greetland side (however all legal in the game) and about 5 mins later Sharlston's 8 decided to pick a fight and all hell broke loose.



Ref abandoned game as the fight spilled into Greetland fans watching on the side as sharlston pushed the fight towards the sideline, Narrowly missing young children. The ref sensibly abandoned the match to then receive a hell of a lot of abuse from Sharlston.
