| The ref had lost the game in the first 20 minutes, ok he missed a few decisions that could have gone Leigh's way but he also missed a fair few that could have gone Fev's way too, the obstruction wasn't really 50-50 if you take it to the letter of the law was it, the player quite clearly took a step to the right to block Kain, whether he would have got near him is another story. Did everyone not spot the double stamp on Finn about 3 yards away from the refs assistant, the game was niggly all the way through due to the fact the ref didn't have control from the start, most tackles had late men jumping on and elbows into faces etc.
Leigh did what you did to us at Blackpool by nullifying our half backs but just didnt have the energy to carry it for the full 80 like you did. For what its worth I think you will beat the Eagles and it will be one hell of a game against Leigh. Good luck.

Tuesday.
The rules for the play-offs are different.

Yes, it was obstruction but I don't think he'd have made the tackle. Another ref might have let it go. That Ridyard pass was never forward - the receiver (can't remember who it was) was a good metre behind him when he took the ball. Those two incidents turned the game.

Definitely game changing moments but, yet again, we have the problem that the video ref is only available at selected fixtures.
Had the game not been televised, the first obstruction "try" would almost certainly have been given. Neither Stokes, or either of his touch judges, were confident enough to stop play for a Featherstone penalty straight away - probably went to the screen as he caught a glimpse of a possible incident out of the corner of his eye.
As regards the second disallowed score, in no way did the pass look to be forward but that was solely down to Stokes' view of the pass.
Felt sorry for Leigh as I think they would have probably run away with the game if both of the scores had been given, Fev had all but gone at that stage.

| There was a point in the game where from 17 penalties Fev had the last 14 on the trot.
Were Leigh that poor in their discipline? Were Fev that squeaky clean? Did a certain dummy spitter have a word with Stokes at HT in order to even things up?
There were some baffling decisions all night, the most was to penalise McNally for not playing the ball properly. If you penalise that then you have to penalise 95% of play the balls.

| Astonishing number of Fev ptbs never touched the foot.
I can't see the point in having a rule we don't play to.

| It might have helped if somebody had put another shilling in the meter , how the Video Ref could make a decision I dont know , it was the darkest match I've ever watched
My only other gripe is why he thought it useful to ref it like you would an under 6 s match
" Wait , wait , Wait , GO " , sorry if proffessional players need all that there is something wrong , and strangely he used different words for each team , Leigh got , " Hold , Hold , ok " , but not as loud , strange

Especially as we got 'pinged' for it in the first half. No consistency whatsoever.
In terms of the penalty count, I believe we've only conceded 8 penalties in the last three games put together before last night, so we've hardly got a pattern of poor discipline.

| Well I don't know the score but I think it will be about 18 points to Fev.
Leigh will start strongly playing down the slope with a few penalty decisions going their way.
An early lead by them will be clawed back by Rovers but I think the Leythers will score just before the break adding to their points total to have a half time lead.
I predict coming down the slope and with a massive penalty count from the man in the middle with whom any similarity with reffereeing a rugby league game is purely by accident Fev will come storming back.
This will be to the delight off the home crowd and the home coach who will be greatfull not to receive the certain fine that he would have got if the aforesaid official had done the same to his team.
Any further comments regarding the whistle blowers will have too similar results Leigh will remain scoreless and complaining to the RFL will be pointless.

That crown would have to go to Barrow a couple of years back where the Fax fans in the second were singing "We can't see what's going on" for 40 mins.

Ironically, Leigh asked if they could play in their red & white kit on Thursday, after complaints from spectators about not being able to see them in their black alternative kit, on our two previous visits to POR this season.
