"RFL Director of European Development Niel Wood". I'm assuming the article has mispelt Nigels name..
I assume this position is separate from his role at the RFL and commands a separate salary.
Nigel Wood, useless oaf. This comp is guaranteed to be another Nigel Wood RFL fail. But even though the RFL will suffer huge losses, the fat controller will still take this separate salary as Director of European development.
Hes enjoying his ride on the RFL gravy train at the expense of the real good of the game.
Wheres the media coverage?
Wheres the press releases?
Great work!

Hesketh, Josh Barlow, Bowman, Casey, Haley are all fringe players that I would play alongside a few U23s. Toulouse will be missing a few players anyway and wont be the strongest team they have. The whole Euro Cup thing is a farce and even if we do win we wont get anything out of it financially unless the other teams win.
Well SL teams dont put out their strongest teams at times and if our players are injured then why play them in meaningless games?
Niel Wood is part of the RLEF (Sister organization of the RFL). The RLEF dont know how to to media stuff at all and thats speaking from experience. How many people know about the Euro Shield, Euro Bowl and Euro Cup comps and which nations even compete in them?

For several years I thought Wood was genuinely called 'Niel', in fairness. The amount of news agencies that still think that's his name is staggering.
Tonight's game by the way - 'Fax will be counting their blessings to get a win from that. Must have been 70%+ possession and territory yet struggled to make anything count apart from the occasions where there had been a couple of sets of six to build pressure. Watson being the best half back on the pitch (IMO) probably speaks volumes for the contribution of Thackray and Handforth, with the latter in particular VERY lucky to remain on the pitch after his high shot in the first half. Aizue, Penky and Ambler were outstanding and probably the difference between the sides, in truth. Cracking game though, another tremendous advertisement for our league.

| thought handforth was instrumental in getting us back to a winning position in the second half?
As for watson being the best player, his head high tackel at the end of the match gave us the field position to see ambler storm under the sticks at the end - he lost them the match.

| Ambler was absolutely superb tonight. He has been consistent all season but had a stormer tonight. You can see him rallying the team all the time and plays with his heart on his sleeve. Worrincy looked dangerous everytime he had the ball and the last mention goes to fieldhouse, he is the safest full back we have had in a long time, he takes everything that is thrown at him and i dont think ive seen him drop anything this season, always likely to break through the line aswell. I thought swinton were very unlucky to lose and played really well, i was impressed with both centres, the fb and watson had a good game. Penky will be a bad miss but funnily enough i think it will bring the best out of handforth as he will be the main man calling the plays. He did pretty well tonight after a shaky first 20 mins.

I said he was the best half back, not the best player. That would probably go to Penky or Ambler.

Not at all, I think the Fax lads did really well to let Swinton stay in it until the 79th minute and tease them into thinking they had a chance against the runaway league leaders !

I have to say i'm not to sure how you thought Worrincy looked dangerous every time he had the ball, most of the time he ran sidewards, i'll give you his due he was difficult to get hold of but i can't recall him breking the Swinton line and putting us in any danger. Prior to the game i was looking forward to seeing this guy show us the speed clearly he has.

| Quote jeffvickers="jeffvickers"Fringe players? We've none left. We were down to the bare bones tonight & Barlow & Reittie will be banned next week. + with all the money the RFL have wasted on this farce of a Euro Cup, I think they'll insist we have to put out more or less full strength sides. + if I was a player, I'd fancy a nice playing & boozing holiday to the South of France.
Also, although I expect, even though a handful of fans are travelling down, I don't think they'd appreciate paying £500 PP to travel to watch the U23's get thrashed.'"
Barlow has already been given a verdict of "no charge, sinbin sufficient".
