They were [upaying[/u the amount that they'd negotiated with the council.

| Totally agree, and even if they reduced the prices, it'd never get back to where it was. Can't have been more than 30 people in there after the game tonight,

Don't think any of them had worked behind a bar before.
They couldn't pour a pint properly (not as though it's handpulled)
None of them could change barrels.
The one time I parted with cash in there, I ordered a bottle of the Withens IPA. The lad asked if I wanted ice with it

| I don't blame the staff in there, they're only wanting to earn a wage, fair play to them, more than many people in society do these days.
I do blame the management thought, that Basil was an obnoxious prick, dont know if he's still about but he had a right attitude. the area manager for EMC was the General Manager at the Galpharm when I worked there, he was incompetent and rumoured to be on a final warning due to his performance, didn't have a clue, was more bothered about what the kicthen was making for his lunch than anything else

Halifax Town went under in 2008 owing both the Council and the Stadium Trust money. Maybe not relevant for this year but they still owed it and it will never get payed. The amount of time the soccer lot use the shay they get a very good deal especially as the soccer lot cause more wear and tear on the field especially around the goalmouth areas. This requires extra money to be sorted as well as many Town games are at night using extra electricity etc.

We're talking about the £100k shortfall in the first year of use of the East Stand. How is any of the above relevant to that?

| With regard to the catering/bars/function rooms at the Shay, I recently had a 60th Birthday Party and initially wanted to hold it at the Shay. I was shown the function rooms which were brilliant but then discussed costs. I could have use of the room for nothing but had to use their caterers, using my own was not an option. Cheapest option? Pie and peas at £7+ per head. I was anticipating 100 people so that would be over £700 to give them pie & peas! Needless to say I went elsewhere.
I was not happy when EMC first got the contract as I didn't see why we could not keep it local. With pubs struggling to stay in business and closing down at an alarming rate, I am sure it would not be difficult to find a local landlord who would have been willing to run the bars and catering. One idea I had was that they could sell drinks, for example, at normal pub prices plus 15%. Out of that 15%, a third could go to the landlord, a third to the council and a third to the club (either HRLFC or FCHT depending on who is playing).
This is only off the top of my head and is open to tweaking but means that the council gets a return on it's investment, the landlord gets a nice little earner from a sizeable and regular captive audience and the clubs get some income which increases if their crowds increase so is a marketing incentive. I'm sure that most fans wouldn't mind paying a little over the odds if they could see the clubs benefitting rather than some faceless corporation.

And everyone on here used to give me a hard time when I complained about the prices. The South Stand Bar atmosphere after the game has been lost & we are in a recession. EMC are greedy & the council have allowed this to happen. Surprised EMC haven't a "Prawn Sandwich" on the menu.
The council are unable to do anything LOGICALLY and of BENEFIT TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY.

I spoke to Malfax outside the LSV the other year ( he'd sneaked outside for a fag ) , his comments were in line with everybody elses I've been told , the corporate at Hilton Park was far superior to the deal at the LSV , both price and quality , council run stadia doesn't work at our level , we need to have control of our revenue streams to offset the lack of numbers coming through the gates , as that is unlikely to happen , we need the numbers , and that won't happen until the clubs start to think differently

I've never once seen Malfax smoke, and I've known him a number of years now, Sure it was him?
