Can anybody enlighten me as to how this works:
news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket ... 176034.stm
If the stumps are unguarded, surely bowling a ball to hit them, at no particular pace, is pretty straightforward. In fact I reckon I'd back me to do it at least once every 2 balls. Is there something that makes this more complicated or is it really possible for 4 front-line County bowlers to manage 1 hit between them in 8 deliveries? |

I see what your saying, but i guess its like darts. In both, the players will have played and trained at their sport for years, yet none are 100% certain to hit the wicket or get 180 every time they bowl/throw. add to this the tension of the situation and its no hard to see why Lancashire only hit the wickets once

| It wasn't even outside, it was indoor on what you'de expect to be a standard track with nothing to deviate the ball 
It also doens't answer the age old question of why all cricket teams have at least four batsmen at the end of each innings who bat like old women, sure they are the bowlers but doesn't anyone ever think to give them some batting practice too ? |

Seems odd to me that Lancs bowled two spinners, and they even practiced their spin as they walked back to their mark!! You're trying to [ihit[/i the stumps, not deceive them!

Yes, but in reverse, they're stood facing the ball rather than following it, it'd be like trying to cut your hair in front of a mirror.
