| Quote deeHell="deeHell"The fact that most a lot of the match day income is in via ticket sales is obviously irrelevant to yourself. Can't miss a good half opportunity to have a dig at your object of hate can you?
'"
Oh dear, do try not to advertise your ignorance. A large amount of matchday income will be walk up, especially versus Leeds - tickets / programmes / corporates/ f & d / some advertising etc the figure will not be far off 100K.
If you think wakey will not find it tough to lose around 100K from its cashflow - at a time when the club tops the SL CCJ table - you are clueless.

| Quote ThePrinter="ThePrinter"Surely from a financial point of view it makes sense not to try play it in bad conditions. Barely 5,000 turned up for Saints/Salford, that would've been roughly doubled if they postponed it with a likely re-arranged fixture sometime June onwards. Why risk being anywhere between 25% to 50% down on one of your best crowds of the season.'"
The reason is cash flow. For whatever reason wakey have appeared to have received many recent county court judgements. Once the fixtures have been announced they will have calculated cash flow for the year. Now 'suddenly' they may find themself around 100k down but with bills / wages to pay. telling people to wait til the game is eventually played is not an option. Mr Glover may have to put his hand deeply into his pocket.

I don't buy the 100k figure at all. I know the vast majority of our walk up income will be pre paid tickets as they carry nearly a 10% incentive discount. Thats already banked, this will probably be the bulk of potential lost income. Of course some income will be effected but certainly not to the extent you imply. Maybe you would like to break down the 100k for likes of the ignorant, at least help me to understand your train of thought.
btw did you notice your gate against Hull? Apathy setting down your way now it's bee proved you can't buy success? Looks like uncle Ken will have a lot deeper to dig than Glover!

Whether someone like you 'buys it' is of no consequence. the suggestion that the 'vast majority' bought in advance is laughable. Trying to explain things so someone like you can understand is a dreary use of my time. i do agree that you are ignorant. Given the 15-20% of st holders who do not attend each game (money banked, i know) and the far from 'vast majority' who pre buy you may expect 4-5K walk up income + food and drink sales for around 9K people and programme sales + lottery / score prediction sales + some corporate is invoiced after the game. (there will also be expenditure incurred that will now be wasted). A figure of around 100k wont be too far off the mark.
Davy has been happy to support the club for 15 years. He has just bought a training ground and talks about 3 and five year plans. i do not think there have been any ccj in 15 years. How many has Mr Glover's regime had in the last year 6? 7? 8?. Little wonder wakey do not want a huge hole in their cahsflow, and there is nothing wrong with that

| Wakie couldn't get the game played. Why not just swap our fixtures round? We could have played host at the weekend, then when we were due to be at home later in the season, let them have the home advantage. After Fridays cancellation, with the weather forecast I never thought it would be on Sunday.

Fairly simple to try and work out whether you are close or not.
We know Wakefield turnover around £4m, We know they are given £1.2m from the sky deal. We know they play 13 league homes a year. If they earn 100k in walk up funds per game, then they would, as part of their revenue, bring in £1.3m in walk ups. Which would leave £1.5m from season ticket sales, merchandise sales, sponsorship sales, corporate sales, Cup games, and secondary uses such as renting out the bar for private parties, grants, memberships. Does that sound realistic to you? That Walk up revenue is only £200k less than everything else(bar tv revenue) that the club will do during a year?
It seems a very very very high estimate to me, id guess WTW would love to be earning £100k in walk up revenue per game.

I doubt 2 days notice would have been enough to stage a fixture at Headingley though.

It wouldn't effect fans too much, short distance to travel either way.
To arrange some police/stewards/ticket people etc would have been challenging in that time scale. But it wouldn't have been an impossible task.

| Had it been a relatively short lead-up cup game then perhaps but I don't see much possibility of switching a league encounter in this way at 48 hours notice - not when clubs have concentrated so much effort on corporate hospitality whose interests will always trump those of 'build it and they will come' supporters, IMO.

The reunion dinner for Leeds, Hunslet and Bramley players that was due to take place on Saturday got cancelled because the car parks and approaches to Headingley were considered unsafe. So even had the game been switched, there was still no guarantee it would have gone ahead.
