I'd definitely let Walters go, maybe Handley as well. I hope McGuire retires, and we bring in a quality half back to partner Lilley. Widdop may fit the bill, but unless we can start building more of a platform upfront it won't matter. On paper, our fowards are decent, but they don't hit gaps, they don't run off the ball, therefore they don't create options, that's where our lack of structure and am obvious game plan is most evident to me. Some changes are needed, but there's enough quality in this squad to at least be competitive against any team in this league, but we desperately need some nous on and off the pitch.

Completely agree i wouldn't expect all the changes required to produce a "quick fix" mate.

Id expect the new regime/squad changes to be given a minimum of this year & next to settle into a strong unit good enough to challange again.

Rumours that George Burgess is wanting a return to England I'd be happy if we went for him and widdop and that would be a start of decent recruiting.

There are murmurings that Burgess will replace Lynch at Cas, though I don't think any SL team can afford him (unless they make him a marquee player, which is unlikely as he doesn't play a pivotal position).

Again, Widdop must be on more than most SL clubs would be willing/able to pay.

We'll have him to replace Webster.

From that list, I'd keep Sutcliffe (to play in the forwards) and Lilley and that's it. I'd also pay off Delaney (how has he got a long contract?) and find Mullalley a Championship home. Nowhere near convinced on Golding either, but would like to see what he can do with an attacking game plan under a decent coach.



Priority is obviously a controlling half but don't see that many available. Widdop is inconsistent and probably wouldn't come anyway, nor would any NRL first teamer other than those towards the end of their career. Of those, Cronk or Thurston are not going to happen, and the only other one in that category is Blake Green. It's either that or a big transfer fee for Gale.



Other than Garbutt we have no punch in the middle either. If Adam Walker doesn't fit in at Saints I'd buy him and buy him now. Always quality for Scotland, and against us for HKR. Garbutt/Singleton/Walker/Cuthbertson/Galloway is a decent rotation for now.



McDermott also needs to go now not at the end of the season. We can't afford the players we have to keep regressing or it won't matter who we bring in next year.

He was terrible last year and has been dropped by Souths this year. Doubt there are a queue of NRL clubs queueing to buy him at the moment. He'd improve us though.

Erm.....yes

You think it takes 1 pre-season to re-build a title winning squad that's been stripped of it's greatest assests in modern history?

Throw in a new Coaching staff & new conditioning staff id say definately not we go back to 2002/03 it takes a fair bit of time.
