Does anyone have any confidence in McDermott? I'm all for british coaches getting a chance but I'm not sure about this one. One thing is for sure the 'best mates' coaching culture will soon be changed. Any poor performances then McDermott will let them know about it.

He has the respect of the players, and they all really like him, personally i think it is a good move, but he needs a good assistant. Bit concerning though, first Donald then Diskin now McClennan, who next?

Next one is Burrow to the Bulls

I think what he will do is make is a very well drilled team. He'll have the forwards playing tough and very hard, which is what Leeds have been lacking.

Maybe Franny should have bided his time a little longer.

I've already posted my thoughts in the 'bluey has quit' thread, so I won't regurgitate here, suffice to say I'm sceptical about this appointment to say the least - going on his previous form I'd say he's hit an extraordinary stroke of luck getting this position and he's nowhere near the class of your few previous coaches.

Maybe Franny thought he would be further down the pecking list with the arrival of Brian Mac, and decided he'd have better opportunities elsewhere?

I know this will fuel the conspircy theories, but all these getting out early only appears to have surfaced since the news that mcdermott ws returning? was what amounts to clear part of the deal? or where certain people just not happy to work under him. I don't know, but I do remember gary saying he wanting a predominant home grown side by 2012 and wonder if this included the coaching staff? so I will not be suprised if we see more english born players in the years to come and the overseas quota dropping at leeds.
