As a Widnesian who lives on the route, the bus is by far your best bet.
You only have to walk to the Albion and there is 2 different buses that are every 15 minutes up until about 7 and then they are every half hour until about 11:30. It takes about 40 minutes which isn't that different than the train and quicker when you consider walking and waiting. If you come from Liverpool you can get a day ticket for £3 as well, otherwise it's about £2.50.
The two buses are the 14 and the 79C which are almost exactly the same route.
Cheers for your help guys. The 23.07 would have been ideal but I want back to Liverpool as soon as for an end of uni celebration! The later I get back the later the drinking commences! Might give the bus a shot Maximus Decimus, sounds like a good shout. Thanks for your help
