Despite someone who has posted on this thread blaming Goulding for the first try, for actually making a tackle, he was ball watching on the TL pass on the next play and got caught out as we had the numbers. Not the last time he struggled in defence in the first half.

Not alot he could do about the try. They had an overlap on that side and Shenton was effectively marking 3 men.

Mmm, could have done better, although the initail trouble when goulding had to come in seemed rife whenever the ball was going wide. [iTeam[/i defence outwide seems to be one of the biggest problems england has.



Shenton did miss another one on Pritchard later in the game, which was poor, but he made a couple of good calls in defence later on and started to do a bit with the ball.



Reasonably encouraging veiwing for the saints fans though, i'd say, as he does apparently possess the one thing we crave at the moment - pace.

Kevin Brown was at fault for the first try imo. Too slow moving across the defensive line which resulted in a overlap. Brown did this a number of times in the game.

Shenton could do with the rest so disappointing from an England point of view but not disastrous for us.



I echo the sentiment about him being better than Atkins the other day, in fact I would go one step further and say that Shenton's done more in a handful of games at this level than many other more celebrated and decorated players.
