| Quote Billinge_Lump="Billinge_Lump"He's turned out to be a fairly average winger and I'm not sure he's going to get any better. He rarely breaks the line, can't drive it forward like Meli and can't go round the outside of defenders. In defence he's not the worst, but he's far from the best.
He's been fortunate to play in some excellent teams, but is he any better than the likes of Steve Hall or Anthony Stewart? Not really and if we can get a decent winger or two through the U21s I think he'll be off. Had Meli not also been off contract this year I'm not sure he'd have had his contract renewed, as he is, Gardner may get another.'"
Well it took a while but finally someone calling it how it is. You did forget to mention his inability to defend high balls , indeed often his feet fail to leave the ground. He should be on his way soon.

| Ade Gardner = Anthony Stewart
Initially promising , hit a plateau , becomes frustrating.
As Div observes - should be gone soon.
Time for two new wingers come the end of the season.

When he first broke through into first team, he was absolutely hopeless with any type of kick, but he really worked and developed it. In the run-in of the 2006 season, I remember game after game being extremely impressed by his ability under the high ball.
God knows what's happened?

all pretty fair - he is just an average Super League winger IMO. he has never lived up to initial expectations, and lived off Lyon and Gidley for years.
comparing his stats for 2009 with Meli - there is no doubt which one is the better winger.

| I'd be happy to keep Ade. And Meli. It's a fullback we need.

yeh, no real issues with him getting a new contract, as long as it puts him in the "average player" wage bracket rather than the "international player" bracket that is likely to be in now.

| I would.
I dont think he really deserves a new contract.
He has been blessed with fantastic centres setting up tries on a plate for him.
He simply isn't good enough.

Perhaps it's Ade that makes the centres look good?
