| I was impressed how you bounced back from those two early scored. I feared the worst when I saw the Meli/Gardener partnership on that wing, and though it was going to be a procession down there, but you rallied and held firm. Well done.

Think yourself lucky. You didn't come across Saints team either this year or last or you would never have even made it to the final or won it.

| Hats off to saints, your weakened team stood up to the test and handled the conditions far better than we did. Your game plan was far better, you kept it simple and ran out worthy winners.
I made a point on our forum that the team that wins the grand final isn't always the team that plays the best RL throughout the season, this time of year when the play-offs come around is notorious for poor weather so any potential grand final winner needs to have a plan A and plan B, your true test will come in dry conditions against the top sides that like to play and move the ball quickly as you have a few players that have slowed down over the years.
Anyway. congrats on the win it was well deserved.

| Quote The Angry Pirate="The Angry Pirate"Superb is over doing it a bit?.....I actually thought it was a very efficient display against an opposition who failed to get to grips with the conditions....It was almost like Mick Potter ordered that downpour...
As a Wire fan it was certainly frustrating to have to witness another defeat against Saints, but I must admit to a sense of relief that we have produced such a poor performance in a game which, laughably, we could afford to lose.
Saints definitely deserve their week off, [ubut for Wire, hopefully, it is a chance to iron things out before we get to the nitty-gritty of the play offs, which, for the top4, starts next week[/u.'"
I thought it started this week?

Cheers mate and your comments are spot on.
For the first time in a few years Saints played the conditions brilliant last night but if I was a Wire fan I would be a bit worried about this cause the conditions at this time of year has been Saints achilles heel in the past.

For Sky, it started this week definitely, but for the top 4 you have the stupid situation where last night's game and Wigan's game tomorrow with Leeds could prove to be totally irrelevent in the outcome of the title.
I honestly believe that for Tony Smith the play offs start next week.... I cannot truly accept that last night's toothless display is the best that this Wire team came muster, and whilst it is far fetched to suggest that Wire eased off last night, I would certainly suggest that Smith will not be worrying one bit about the result.
Similarly, I don't think Saints were anywhere near their best last night....The game itself, when you strip away the hype and the athmosphere, was a pretty lacklustre affair, with neither side playing to their full potential...Saints just adapted to the conditions a lot better and the result highlights this completely.

| Won fair and square but with a whole lot of luck.
If I were a wires fan, wouldn't be too despondent. Only lost by 4 trys to 3, despite practically begging saints to win. It wasn't Potters or Smiths superior/inferior tactics that won/lost this game it was the fact that Briers (espc) and Monaghan played poo. Thought Wellens was crucial and in Matty Smith, you had a good hungry player with something to prove. And that bl**dy Cunningham, I wouldn't like to be in front of him in a post office queue, how many times has he scored trys like that?
