He was announced yesterday - we want a new signing every day, dammit!





No, the only reason some people expected something to be announced today is because the 1st september is officially the first day clubs are allowed to approach players under contract/registered with other clubs (that had previously not been given permission to speak to other clubs).

I would expect so too.



The only other strong rumour still going is Ewan Dowes and I don't think Hull haven't publically announced he's leaving yet (which seems to be the norm for any signing these days, the club they're departing announce it a day or two before the club they're joining). Since Elima has already been announced by Catalans as leaving, I'd expect he's tomorrow's signing.

Could be the announcement of one or a few of the young lads re-signing though.



Elima wouldn't be a surprise though based on what we've heard so far.

I reckon there's a biggie out there waiting to be announced. Definately the feeling I've got from the fans forum and the impression from the odd comment in the press. Something is afoot (and not just the thing at the end of aleg).



I'm going to be so disappointed aren't I.

We all know that clubs cannot talk with players contracted with other clubs until 1 September, right?



We all know that contract discussions usually take some time, right?



So if a player contracted to another SL club was announced as signing on 1 September, would that not tend to suggest that unauthorised negotiations had been taking place beforehand?



Since we know our club acts honourably, would we therefore[i really[/i expect any announcements regarding contracted players (take the rumoured Elima purely by way of hypothetical example) to be made so soon after the deadline?



Therefore, are we really surprised that no such signing announcements have been made yet?

No.

JP was talking to Leeds in [iMarch[/i. It's all in his book.

Aren't they allowed to hold talks with the player (with their parent clubs approval of course) but just not announce it without prior permission of the club?



I'd fully understand if a team's in the playoffs and they've requested that we don't release anything yet, especially if it's someone who they're letting leave early.

September 1st is basically when you're allowed to talk with the player or announce what you like. Anything before that, you need the current club's permission.
