| Why would he want to sign a contract on a reduced wage if he already has two further years to go? Only way he would sign a reduced deal would be if we offered him a long term contract, which given his injuries recently wouldn't be very clever either IMO.

| I don't really understand why anyone thinks Scruton is going to throw away his current contract and sign another one on significantly less money.
I mean, why would he?

Depends how much game time he thinks/is told he's going to get. TBH, IMO he's just a back up player now. All 4 current first team squads are all better.

On his most recent form I'd agree but Scutes has been better in the past than his recent form suggests, and may be again once he is clear of injury and back up to match fitness. To be honest we don't know what position we are going to be in at the end of the season, neither on the financial situation or on a which players actually [iwant [/i to re-sign. The competition for spots does no-one any harm though, so let it continue.

| I liked Scrutes as a player when he was at his best (HKR at home a couple of years ago rings a bell) but i'm not sure if he'll be able to get to that level again.
Hope he does though as he's had a horrid time with injuries.

| "Ship him out"???? He's got to want to leave. How do you manage to make that happen?

| Quote Bulls4Champs="Bulls4Champs"Langley was injured often and often playing with injury, but IMO his form was never in question. He's consistent and like a duracell, just keeps going and going. IMO the same cant be said for Nick, if he was OOC I wouldn't like to see him offered a new one and I would like to see the Bulls try and offload him anyway. Surely his wages are extortionate for the value he offers, which is little to none IMHO.'"
the stats just do not show that. Langleys stats in 2011 were all worse than 2010, carries and metres much more so than tackles per game, and they have picked back up again this season. He played just over half the games last season, but had about 3 or 4 injuries and never got back to the top of his game because of the interruptions. I do agree that when he plays, even if not at his best, he improves the team. Nicks stats show a similar trend 2010 to 2011, but Langleys improved in 2012 whereas Nicks took a major nosedive, right from round 1. the stats do not show how long he spent on the pitch, but if he was doing a full stint then Toms stats were about as good and people were complaining at the start of the season that he was hardly spending any time on the pitch. So that leads me to conclude that either the shoulder condition was chronic and he was played cautiously, or diabetes has had a significant impact upon him. And I hope that it is the former. So two scenarios: he has to retire due to diabetes, and what I hope happens, he gets back from injury and back to his best, just like Langley.

| A fit Scuton would be a boost to our pack. His form of last year and this would mean he would struggle to get into the 17 barring those dreaded injuries!!

| Agreed, an enervated Scruton would be an asset, and a 5th prop is essential to cover at least minor injuries and rotation.
It would be unreasonable to comment on Scuton's worth until we see him play again.
Maybe he can be the player he was, maybe not. It's up to him and all fans should hope he gets back to his best.

| Let's see what he's like when he comes back from injury. Bit unfair to call him when he hasn't got the chance to try and change your mind.
