Just watched the Swinton game on Sky with a friend who isn't too familar with rugby league, and he was confused as to what league this game was being played in as the commentary kept switching from 'this Championship game' and 'top of Championship One'.



He asked is there a Championship Two? I said no, and he simply replied its a silly name to give the bottom profesional league. He has a point, to newbies its a bit weird turning upto a Championship One game wrongly thinking the 'One' signifies the top championship league.

Well now we no longer have a foreign team we could revert back to the ' National ' leagues , it is slightly confusing , with THE Championship and then Championship 1



But who really cares , it was big Nige who came up with it , then again he came up with the ' Blue Sox ' Monika , his talents knows no boundaries

It was a rather silly naming arrangement from the starone championship is the top. Championship 1....thats not under Championship. It's technically the same. Why does the 1 demote it? Why does its absence promote the second tier? Why is it a different format?



I don't know. I don't know what it achieves, I don't know why they came up with it. Change it back to NL1 and 2 or change it to Championship 1 and 2. Do something logical!

Should go Aussie style and call them "cups". eg, Jim Beam Cup.
