Since when does a commentator call players by their first names?



He does it time and time again with the english players.



Then you throw in all the innuendo and inside jokes with stevo.



The commentary team is a pair of unprofessional idiotic twits who have little idea what they are talking about.

Here we go again.



We get it, RLFans hates Eddie and Stevo. We don't need a thread every time they are on Sky.

It's a topic that needs to be discussed. It's as if the two of them think they're not on Sky in front of hundreds of thousands of people. Then throw in the idiotic comments of the likes of Clarke and you've got an unnecessarily unprofessional presentation.

This is the first thread I have done about them.

Exactly. Maybe after around 20 years of commentary they have become too casual in their roles.

Yea it's right they must not realise they are commentating to we'll over 200k people. A change is needed. For me Brian Carney is excellent and presents the sport exceptionally. To think people questioned and even laughed at him in the beginning. Now after a year or 2 he's light years ahead of Eddie & S***o.

You've got your opinion. Fine. But everyone other than you miserable sods that frequent these forums actually seems to like them. Especially, dare I say, newcomers to the sport.

Don't knock Eddie and Stevo. Its not as though they ever mention Steve Menzies age when he plays

People laugh and make light of the "Stevo bingo" but his and Eddie's (to a degree) commentating is so monotonous.



We need up-to date presenters/commentators who can give a real insight into the game and actually call the game how it is not just the same old "chip over the top" "got to get the message out" etc.



I do think Stuart Cummings has added something though. Tonight the referee missed a ball steal, Eddie proceeded to say something along the lines of "they're 50/50 calls aren't they Stuart?" Cummings then went on to fairly reasonably explain why that particular ball steal may have been missed but in the main get picked up by either the referee or a touchjudge. Eddie's reply "as I said a 50/50 call".



Time for change. They've served the game and SKY well but time to move on, fresher approach needed.

If you're offended by a sports commentator calling a player by his first name then TBH you probably need to re-assess your priorities in life.

Turn the volume down and stream the local radio commentary instead.
