| Quote WindleSaint="WindleSaint". I know that might sound stupid, cos the scoreline reflects a different one sided game.
.'"
It is stupid and it was one sided for the last 20 minutes VERY onesided.
46-16..well I call it one-sided.
And dont forget we had our first try disallowed and many officials disagreed with that,it was a very debatable point.

| Quote WindleSaint="WindleSaint"Unlucky tonight. I was v proud of England tonight. They really matched them, toe to toe. '"
I was very proud of England for 60 minutes when they matched them toe to toe. For the last 20 minutes, though, I was very embarrassed by England because they capitulated. They decided not to bother defending anymore but instead opted for the easy course of letting their backline run riot. I hope the boys are proud of that because I wasn't. I'd frozen by butt off for over three hours and cheered my head off each time they scored, looked close to scoring (a number of times) and defended well. At least they could have lost with dignity.

And don't forget that Slater had a clear knock on given as a try, so things balance out.
What you're whinging about when you actually won I have no idea. But you Aussies whinge at anything and everything.

| Three MAJOR turning points in last nights game..
1. Burgess not passing to Tomkins with he line begging to make it 12-0
2. Tomkins having a penalty against him for not playing the ball properly when the Aussie player was all over him, they went down field and score in the next set of six.
3. Alfie Langer spending the whole first half coaching on field, directing their defensive line and calling the plays in attack.
Would have been a totally different game

The Inglis try also.
England ahead at half time - different game OR
16-16 with 15 to go - different game

| Thats a shame, i thought he was doing ok.
Positives- destroying the Kiwis 3-0 in the test series, including a 44-0 win.
Getting us to the four nations final.
Having the balls to drop big name players like Pryce, Burrows, McGuire, Gleeson etc and bringing in youth.
Negatives-
The World Cup.

| Quote 10940="10940"What a load of codswallop, ifyou are proud of Englands performance last night, then you are very easily pleased, from your post I presume you meant that you were proud because you didn't get belted by 60 points.
And the injury to Shenton did NOTHING to the score line, you poms just want to use anything as an excuse for the perpetual hidings that you get fromthe Aussies, and have done for more than 37 years, and if you don't change your style of play, the NEXT 37 years.....and talking about giving up,that is what Australia did at halftime when we beat you by 10 points because we can nailyou by 40 or50 anytime we want,ANYTIME.'"
Are you banging on again? You just compared Burgess & Peacock to carthorses & now you're making it sound like we've never beaten you in 37 years.
Slag us off as much as you want. We are gracious in defeat, unlike you in victory. So as i've said a few times already on this thread 'well done'.
You personally remind of the old joke....Whats the difference between Australia & a yoghurt? If you left a yoghurt for a few hundred years it would develop culture.

Totally agree. The record books will show the score alone and not how close the game was in reality. That last 20 minutes was extremely disappointing. I had driven up from the Midlands (not the ends of the earth, I know) via several diversions thanks to an M1 closure for the most of the day. I don't think the crowd helped in that last 20. The ground was half empty by full time! Some may say cause, some may say effect, but some of the people sat around me arrived 10 minutes into the game and left 15 minutes before the end. And they weren't Wiganners ! What kind of message does that send to the players? The Kiwis can stage a comeback, so why couldn't we ?
In some respects our players seemed a little naive. I guess that comes with the relative inexperience some have at international level. Having said that, I was proud of their energy and passion compared to the "old school". Until the last 20 that is..........
I haven't seen the game again yet, so I'll reserve judgement on some of the "decisions" until then.
