Quote Dunbar="Dunbar"Hang on a minute - if every media outlet in the country were running headlines saying "Rugby League international fails to make the grade in club Rugby Union", we would be up in arms
This isn't a positive RL story for me so I'm happy it isn't too widely reported'"
i agree - on the whole, this isnt a positive story for rugby league. If a current England RU international signed for a Super League team and failed after 2 months, we would be laughing our cocks off on here about how inferior their game is compared to ours.
It either shows that top RL players cant handle RU, or that the RL champions are resorting to raiding the ranks of RU reserves to fill their team.
the only potential positives to this story are that:
a) other top players see it as a warning that its not that easy to make it in RU
b) RU clubs decide not to target RL players as its not worth the risk
The RFU has already gone down the route of (b) in that they do not directly target RL players on central deals now.
