| Quote Big Ask="Big Ask"Not many words (a 4 hour read at best) and the bloke is clearly a wasted talent; how good could he have been with some real dedication?'"
Like Terry Newton I refuse to name names.
However one of the top players in this country is/was a ‘waster’. ‘Waster’ as in drinking a lot of booze and loving it.
With talented players like Sean Long I don’t believe that booze comes into it. He’s just naturally talented and just needed to keep up with his ability of which is ok if you exercise that ability enough.
I think the point your trying to get at is if Sean Long was a tee-total goody we could of seen more upsets against Australia over the years. However that hasn’t been the case and Sean Long has achieved a heck of a lot in life. He’s very happy and that’s what truly matters doesn’t it?
Everything is half chance and I believe more often than not Sean Long has taken the right chances. His awards show you just that.

Jamie Peacocks was a good read as was Barrie McDermotts but then I would say that wouldnt I
'"
Barries is a really good read, but as a leeds fan i was a bit disapointed that it stops midway through 2004, when that season was the pinnacle of his leeds career. should definitely be worth a chapter or two.

| As others have said: Barrie Mac's and Radlinski's are both worth a read. Apparently Wayne Bennett's "Don't die with the music in you" is a good one.
Oh, and at all you Robinsons haters.

Barrie's is an excellent read, mine goes past 2004, i think it is a later copy with a chapter or two added on.

Indeed.
Cr@p record.
Nobody's saying that everyone has to [ilike[/i Long (least of all, Long himself). But a "wasted talent"? How many Lance Todds could he have won if he hadn't wasted it, eh?
Quote Big Ask="Catalancs"The Forbidden Game - Mike Rylance'"
Excellent recommendation. And far better than most biographies – for fairly obvious reasons.

Totally agree, it is quite a humbling experience reading Stanley's book, very funny as well.
