that would be because they've spent less on players and finished mid table with no pressure to get results due to been given the green light. a bit of a mockery don't you think.
Good luck to Widnes all the same.'"
The last person who should be saying that Widnes have made a mockery of the system is a Wakefield fan!

think we showed a loss last year due to the buy out and re-structuring cost showing up in the accounts they have now gone we are in profit

| Quote Saddened!="Saddened!"But they should keep them out.
Last time they were in they were relegated, went bankrupt and had poor crowds. They shouldn't get back in ever.
There is Super League at Widnes anyway, why do they want two clubs in the same area (3 if you include Wire) that play in the same stadium???'"
Pretty lucky for Widnes then that d[ii[/icks like you don't have any say in the matter eh?

How is the location of Castleford, Wakefield and Hull KR more appealing?

Makes no sense at all.
The catchment area of Widnes is the Borough of Halton. A pop of arround 120k Thats before we go into Liverpool, an area where Saints are our only real competition for supporters of Rugby league.
To say this area is overcrowded is nonsense.
Give it 6 years of SL, with Ste O running the club and i predict we will be seeing bigger crowds than Saints, with healthier financial results and a better youth policy.
Wire, is a harder target but one i believe we can overcome. I have never been so impressed with what Widnes are doing, and honestly feel with the people we have running the club currently the sky is the limit.

Incredibly lofty ambitions there. What crowds do you reckon Saints will be getting for Widnes to be beating them?
Why would Warrington be a harder target? They are limited by a stadium that is at least 5,000 spaces too small for them.

| Ignore the dumb Saints idiot, he is just on a wind up and never has anything interesting to say anyway.
What amazing news for the club. Considering our crowds aren't much different between now and before, this just goes to show how different a change in ownership can bring. We've not just met the RFL's criteria for one million pound turnover, we have obliterated it. When some clubs are asking for sky money early, we are posting very healthy profits.
I am amazed by this news.

Amazed is not the word Chris
Cleverly done I,ll admit , lose 1 million one year , make a million profit the next , all on a turnover of around a million more than you could reasonably expect given your crowds and previous accounts
Nice one Steve

Because Warrington are a bigger, better run club than saints. With the facilities and a chairman who can make them a success. wire will go from strength to strength for the next few years.
Saints will start rebuilding, And you got what at your peak? 9.5k avg. Knock 2k off that easy when you are a top 6 team only. Widnes can match that, especially with SL funding and a chairman with a bit of vision.
I dont think i have lofty ambitions, i think my ambitions are the clubs ambitions. Our chairman wouldnt be here if he wanted us to make up the numbers.

| Excellent set of results for Widnes.
Shows what can be achieved in the lower leagues with a club run professionally.
A turnover of £2.5 million with no Sky money to speak of along with almost no away support turning up at their ground shows that they must be doing a lot off the field.
Add in £1.3 million sky money along with increased gate money and sponsorships, and they would probably turnover £4 - £5 million in SL.
As for the Widnes speccies saying they would be bigger than Saints. I think he is living on cloud cookoo land. Even when Widnes had Offiah and co in the late 1980's and Saints were crap, we still had more fans.
Wire however is a different proposition. They are at present perhaps in the greatest period of their clubs history, playing in a modern stadium, yet are still getting lower crowds than Saints.
