Indeed: I'm no great fan of Joey Barton, despite his attempt to reinvent himself as the footballing philosopher de nos jours on Twitter.



But it's noticeable that while this forum, and the Sky commentary, are constantly full of complaints about the refs always making wrong decisions, the tweets of a professional sportsman from association football are consistantly praising the refereeing in RL - both for the quality of their decisions and the respect they get from players.

Agreed, it's not the first time barton has said it and he's not the only one either. We shouldn't be so down on things.

There was also a tweet by Welsh comic Mark Watson after the Warrington-Leeds game that read 'As a southerner and lifelong rugby union fan, I must concede the rugby league game I just watched was incredible.'
