Great news, horrible for any team to go through that, especially as the season is about to start!

Great news. But doesn't this say somethin about the state of things, when a club is sent a winding up notice over an unpaid 5k! Maybe there was some dispute over paying it but if on the other hand they just didn't have the cash until after their next game, how can they keep the club going week to week?!

I agree with the last poster. I hope Oldham can develop their new ground, get promoted and regain some of their former standing in the game. The town is still a rugby league heartland, having produced the current England captain, and the whole of the eastern side of the Manchester conurbation needs a successful, if not indeed, a Super League, club. Things have sunk so far in that area that it might almost be considered an expansion area. Good luck to them and I hope the mindelss morons who vandalised the ground re ceive their just deserts.

Jamie Peacock is from Leeds? Sinfield and Iestyn 'the Welsh wizard' Harris are from Oldham though.

It was a dump of a ground but it was real Rugby League RAW. You felt the full force of the winter weather up there.



The last time I was there, was when they beat Wigan in 1987 in the CC.



When queuing up on the open side you had to walk over all sorts of junk and for us, we had to step over an old bike which was just strewn outside a turnstile.

Do you seriously think that a single RL club, let alone one in Championship One in a crumbling ground, generate anywhere near enough cash for any chairman "to bleed them dry"?

Considering Chris is a qualified solicitor/accountant( I cant remember which ) , unless he's taking a huge salary, which is unlikely, considering the revenue streams available to the club, I'd suggest he's the only person keeping the club alive, maybe you know different?

He's obviously doing summat right financially then if they can generate so much cash...hope he shares his secret with other clubs in that case! Forgive me for sounding sceptical about such allegations.

Just how much is he making out of the goldmine that is Oldham then...?
