But lets look at the facts, we had a resonably young squad whereas the Aussie have had their back bone playing together for 6+ years. Thats not going to last forever that back bone will eventually split up. We have some superb young players coming through the system, Lomax, Clark, Bateman, Currie. We are having some exceptionally talented youngsters coming through the system who i believe can match it with Australia

Maybe because its the aussies number one sport and our tenth . The amount of money the NRL plows into the comp and development will make ours look like chicken feed. We will never be able to compete, not in my life time, and im in my twenties.

Another way of looking at is that we have the player pool, but the players in it aren't good enough, so maybe what we should be doing is increasing the quality of the players we have rather than reducing their number.

You need to get more Englishmen playing in the NRL. Especially young halves, ship them over and they’ll develop into better players in the Aussie RL system. It’s why NZ is competitive after all.

Hanley's annoyed some people because he's right. That's why we haven't produced a world class halfback in 20 years, and why we have centres who can't pass and a general culture in SL that losing by 30 points is in some way OK.
