| Although anyone volunteering deserves respect as do all NHS staff we the British public as ever lose our collective minds and jump on the bandwagon of the obvious.
However let’s get one thing straight here the keyword is volunteer!
You join the NHS or any emergency service and you accept that facing these risks may be part of the job. Many NHS staff are low paid I accept they but all the same it’s what they are paid for. People can grandstand all they like but that’s the fact.
Ditto volunteers, great though they are they know the risks.
The real hero’s in my book are those who never signed up for any of this. The checkout girls, the delivery men etc. The lowest paid of them all and they are still working. Nobody gave them a choice or patted them constantly on the back the way almost anyone in the NHS seems to expect as a right. No protective equipment or testing for these people as they continually get breathed on by the ungrateful public!
Who was clapping them the other night? No like sheep were too busy virtue signalling the obvious. Makes me puke at times.
So as others have noted, if you want to help then do so without a constant need for validation and self publicity that some seem to have.
This is probably not the case with this lad but I certainly distrust the motives of some.

| Quote NickyKiss="NickyKiss"Why would he need to stick up for himself? [uHe’s doing a great thing in using his spare time to volunteer for the NHS.[/u The fact that some saddos on a fans forum manage to find a way of turning it in to a negative, simply because of the club he happens to play for is hardly going to make him lose sleep.
[uGood on him and good on the other 750,000 volunteers.[/u'"
Quote NickyKiss="little wayne69"=#BF0000I wasn't knocking his or any of the other people in the public spotlight whose desire to make themselves available to the NHS, well done to them for caring and wanting to help, I just prefer those that do it discreetly without any fuss and shy away from attention.'"
There's the post that seems to have caused offence to your knuckle dragging mate, I've highlighted it in red so you can see it properly, I don't see any negative in my post towards anybody only praise, the fact that my preference is for the volunteers that prefer to keep a low profile does not take anything away from the higher profile volunteers, I hope that's cleared that up.
Oh and fwiw your Neanderthal mate what jumped in started by saying you wouldn't say that to his face hence the comment about him sticking up for himself hth.
What is it with some Wigan fans don't be so sensitive and looking to cause an argument that isn't there.

Put this in red pal because it highlights your stance perfectly.
All the best.

| There's been thousands of volunteers across the country, so why the bloody hell does this Willie Isa bloke deserve 'total respect'?
Would the OP have started a thread had it been a player from another club?
Wigan fans are a bit like Liverpool fans in football, as in trying to turn anything into all about them.

The only stance I have is against slavering wigan fans looking for problems that aren't there, all the best.

| Wigan rugby reporter is struggling to write something, given that there is no rugby on. Rings up the club to ask how the players are getting on, keeping fit, etc. Someone comments that Willie Isa has signed up as a volunteer, mentioned in a players' whatapp group or something.
Reporter thinks, "there's a story in this. Reflects well on rugby players, particularly as footballers are spending their time crashing cars in anti-lockdown parties. Also, might encourage others into a greater community spirit. There are no negatives."
"Hi Willie, local paper here. Keeping fit okay?'
"Oh yeah, using the bins to do push-ups, and got some jail weights, etc"
"I've heard you've signed up as an NHS volunteer."
"Important to do your bit, etc. Cheers mate. Stay safe".
Reporter writes story. No negatives in sight.
Oh hang on, he hadn't factored in that some people won't like it because he's a Wigan player.
We're all in it together, eh ....
