Yeah but they often don't use the actual title of the film/book in the show version e.g a Christmas carol and Scrooge.

| Quote Big Jim Slade="Big Jim Slade"I love a bit of biff, and when Peacock goes toe to toe with someone I'm the first one cheering, but that's my Leeds/GB/England bias, and he's been very lucky to avoid a ban or two in the past. I've no problem with players rough-housing, it's part of the game, but most of this wasn't that, it was -housing, and that's got no part in the game.
I'm utterly perplexed by the many claims that LMS and Hock were equally guilty. Seriously, take your cherry and white glasses off and look at the stats:
Head contact: LMS 1 Hock 1
Punches Thrown and landed for no apparent reason: LMS 0 Hock (at least) 6
Yes, that's equal.
For me, I don't think Hock's indiscretion should be taken in isolation, I don't think he has any appreciation of how lucky he is to be still be allowed to play the greatest game alongside incredibly talented and clean players and I'd like to see him hit with a six game ban - three immediate and three suspended. The message has to be sent out to Wigan, sort him out or get shot. I'm impressed that he managed 14 games without having a typical Hock moment, but it was inevitable, we all knew it was inevitable, and to treat it the same way as someone like Tomkins or Danny McGuire lashing out is farcical.
I think Tuson probably had to go - he threw one hell of a lot of punches - but sending off certainly sufficient, he was trying to walk away and even mild mannered types are liable to over react when sucker punched.
Magennis can't really complain at whatever ban they give him, he completely lost it. If they'd stuck his mum in a Wigan shirt and stuck her in front of him he'd have probably chinned her.
Mossop's the only one of the scrappers I'm undecided about, I understand why he did it, but he had no need to get involved. It would be a real shame to be banned for that, but technically I think they have to give him at least a game, because he ran in and punched.
And on McIlorum, I can't decide whether he's lucky to get away with it or not. I'm tempted to give him the benefit of the doubt, because normally tackles like that are just a momentary lapse (or repeated momentary lapses, see Brent Webb) but he looked like he might have meant it - and he's good, so 1 match ban for him.
And Tomkins, well done on supporting a worthy cause, but I'd like you banned anyway because you're rather good.
(edited as I now have information that makes my previous statement both ridiculous and embarrassing)'"
You've missed out the last sentence in your post;
"All Wigans players should be banned [isine die[/i and forever, with no parole, they are all dirty so and so's and besmirch the great game."

I'm really not quite sure what you're getting at, are you implying that my analysis is biassed and unreasonable? If so I'd love to know which bit in particular, because I think I've been pretty fair about the whole thing, and if not then why quote my whole post?

| I think there was an overreaction by the officials and the disciplinary because it was the most talked about incident of the RFLs showpiece event. If that had been a regular season game at DW or LTP then you'd have hoped sin binnings would have sufficed. Everyone who has ever played the game or watched it for a long time is saying there wasn't much in it, the worst part of it was the cheapshot by Magennis which has led to 2 further Wigan players receiving disciplinary action.

Whether you like it or not punching is against the rules. Deserved sending off and deserved suspension.

| Just out of interest, when was the last time so many players from one SL side were suspended in one go?
I'd expect Shaun Wane won't be happy that he's lost 3 forwards completely unnecessarily. Blame the judiciary if you want, but they wouldn't have been suspended if they hadn't got involved.

In relation to Hock, I agree, he didn't have to start punching. He lost his head as he does, but he part of the reason our pack has been so awesome this year.
Tuson on the other hand had the right to start throwing punches, it was a natural reaction to being hit when you are not even looking.
Not blaming the judiciary, but I'm not blaming Tuson either. There is more to it than just not getting involved, that only applies to the idiot wearing the red vee.
Mossop was right to protect his team mates, but he went about it in totally the wrong way. That was the most needless ban. He could have just pushed the saints player away rather than hitting him.

| I was pretty disgusted by the behaviour and attitude of both teams if I'm honest.
Players from both sides, maybe eighteen at a guess, took no part whatsoever. With the ref and touch judges concentrating on Hock and LM-S there was real scope for players to have started several other fights and kept the action going for a good couple of minutes longer.
Game's gone soft.
