| Quote 10940="10940"Before England can ever hope to compete against Australia they MUST have an Australian coach who will start from basics and reform the English style of play to the Australian style...Surely after 37 years England must realise they are falling further & further behind, and it wont be very long before New Zealand and maybe PNG are ranked permanently ahead of England,..they aren't even good to watch these days, they look farcical.

Your wrong on so many different levels - are you league freak??
We need better systems, better youth policies, better core skill development, better athletic development and better continual development for those players coaches and officials with potential. But then most people already know this.
We need to understand the Aus game but if we want to beat it we need something different - not just a clone. Not everything that comes out of aus is good.
Initially we may need a good aussie coach in a development role but ultimately we need to get some bright people involved in the game and control our own future.

Yes and no. Yes, he's wrong on many levels - no we don't [ineed[/i an Aussie coach (not even initially). We need to produce our own coaches of a standard high enough - which means giving them a shot in SL. And we need to learn once and for all to play high tempo Rugby League (in attack and defence) for 81 minutes. How long ago was it they appointent David Waite and how much progress did we make under that particular Australian?! I could be a little kinder about Tony Smith but it's the same story.
Joey - and I trust his honesty and RL brain - reckons we're every bit the match for Aus, we just can't stick it for 80 mins. And having been at practically every England/GB v Australia game, home and away for the last 20 years, I'd agree with him - [urlhttp://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/same-old-story-for-hapless-poms/story-e6frext9-1225797950424[/url
I know we've taken a few tw@ings over the last 10 years or so, but when we have turned up and rattled the Aussies, we've still (all but once or twice) bombed it in the last 15 mins.

Fair enough. Although Sydney 2002 (despite the kamikazi nature of the crazy 'one off' test match) was the biggest embrassment I ever witnessed, and that was under Waite. I'll never forgive him. I mean, Karl Pratt... what the..?!
- Mind you, Chris Bridge?!!
Ok, let's get this going again... Who would you REALISTICALLY have in the top job in English Rugby League and youth development? I've already said Kear but he seems to be waivering already and I know nobody else capable enough, that's homegrown.

How much longer are you going to faff about trying to come up with a system to beat Australia, you have buggered about for nearly 40 years with no success, you just have to do something about it,...believe me we Australians are bored to death when we play England, they aren't exciting to watch any more.....your admin just have to take their head out of the sand.

No matter what you chose to think,England are LIGHT YEARS behind us in the game.

WHAT A PATHETIC EXCUSE.
Just for your education the rule book clearly states,
AT THE END OF 80 MINUTES PLAY THE TEAM HAVING SCORED THE MOST POINTS SHALL BE DECLARED THE WINNER. nothing mentioned about the team leading after 60 or 75 minutes.........Grow up, you were thrashed by 30 points in 80 minutes.it was the Greyhounds v the Carthorses.
People will look back in 20 years time and still wet themselves when they see England played 4 front rowers at thesame time in the final of the Four Nations Trophy

For those that agree with you, you're pointing out the blindingly obvious and for those that don't, you're adding nothing. This thread's about a new England coach.

| I'd like to see influences from other sports at the top (RFL).
Even someone like Woodward could possibly add something to the table.
If we want to beat the Aussies we're going to
a) Get a LOT more juniors involved
b) Come up with something very different
Maybe look to the NFL for tips on power, maybe not tips even analyse full coaching setups, top level martial arts for balance and control of movement, core stability, even soccer could probably teach us a thing or two.

Are you by any chance the guy who is trying to run the forum Rugby League Today?
I seem to see similarities in your posts to the ones Dicko posts on his abortion of a forum....if it is you,you will have noticed how a decent forum is run,and without little AIMz.
