It would be bloody difficult for us to sack Gleeson unless we employed him in the first place. Tansey simply took the pis[is[/i once too often, letting himself, his team mates and the fans down by failing to grasp the responsibilities of being a pro RL player. I have no doubt that Hull FC's off-field player expectations have been clearly signalled to Gleeson, I also have no doubt that any transgression, while wearing black and white hoops will see him shown the door quicker than anyone previously.

And you've seen Phelps how many times since he arrived?

Really? I thought he had played really well last couple of games and having seen all of his games so far I have been pleased with the signing. But I guess you are in a better place to judge having never seen him in black and white.

Saints/Wire/Wigan all clubs spending at full cap, all clubs that can afford any player that wishes to come, all clubs with very good coaches ALL GOT RID OF Gleeson.

TBH trying to be impartial I have one foot in both camps.

He could be superb for Hull FC but he could be a disaster as well.

It depends on a few of things, Does he still want it?, How will he be managed at FC?, Will him and his best mate Long start 'reliving' old habits?

Like I say it depends on a fair few factors but there is no doubt that if FC get a Gleeson with his head on they have pulled off a superb signing.

If you check back to the threads you will se I agreed with this, I thought he should have done time, but as pointed out on countless occasions on this site the law has dealt out a punishment, we might not agree with it, but it has. Cockayne to my knowledge has not transgressed since and has knuckled down to become a very good player. You might not like what he did (as I don't), but as a sports fan, surely what Gleeson did with betting against his own team should disgust you as well.



FWIW, I think Gleeson is a fantastic player and he has been punished (too lightly) and that is the end to it as far as the RFL go and rightly he starts at FC with a clean slate, its a pity some of you are selective in that its ok for a cheat to start with a clean slate as he has been punished but not for others, who have equally been punished, hypocracy really.

Just the hypocracy that goes on with some people on this board, one minute its 'they've served their punishment let them get on with their lives' next its 'we should never forget or forgive'. It usually depends on who the player is and what club he plays for as to whether people chop and change their views on the law and punishment.
