If they're well funded, have a decent following, can throw together a competitive team and they have a long term plan they're already be better than half of SL.

I don't think we can say that SL is meant to benefit the English game. It is called SLE.



That being said, the incumbants are hardly going to be daft enough to vote one of themselves out of the gravy train. So SL2 would be possibly the only viable option. But once in there, then it may only take 1 year to get to SL1. Spend at max cap and make sure you top 17 are as good as an average SL1 17 and fill the rest with youth.

I think it will be positive if they can be as competitive and stable as Catalans have been. Agree though that having Catalans in SL doesn't seem to have made a big difference to the quality of the French team.

Brilliant idea. I can see the French TV companies falling over themselves to fund a Toulouse team and screen a semi-pro league filled with small northern towns.
