You come up with some good points here.



First of all, most SL chairmen aren’t young people because the only young people that tend to be wealthy enough to run a sports club is someone who has inherited a lot of wealth. You’re not get many young people who have inherited wealth running super league clubs because rugby is mainly supported by the working classes. I’m assuming that most super league clubs are owned by people who come from similar backgrounds as those who support the game, but have got wealthy as they got older. So that’s that one cleared then.



Now onto journalism, Is it really fair that Marc Padgett gets the platform of one of the biggest newspapers in the country whilst everyone else has to make do with blogspot?



There’s probably better sports writers out there that are getting 2 to 3 reads whilst he gets thousands of people reading his despite it been garbage. It should be the best writers that write for these institutions and not those who just happen to know the right people. Like I said it’s a group of old timers at the top that won’t be moved until retirement no matter how bad their get.



To round this off, this article does warrant airtime on the virtual terrace because it has rugby league relevance in it. Yeah he might be trying to be funny, but the thing is he doesn’t need to try any harder because his position is safe as long as he’s drinking tea with the paymasters at the independent.

No....I admit that some wealth takes time and some is inherited...but there is also another group of younger millionaires who have earnt their wealth. Then of course there are the drug barons who run entire estates...these captains of industry are not usually old......they don't get a chance to get old









so.....even if a working class man makes good........he dies, leaves his 20 yr old son billions....RL will miss out because the son has become middle class......we may as well up sticks now

Yes, I acknowledge that this was a joke by Marc Padgett, but there are some people who are passionate about rugby league and we want our sport presented better in the media. If you think that is petty then that is your choice. But we think that Marc Padgett is petty for publishing dribble like that on shall we let’s say one of the better platforms in this country to air your opinions on to a crowd.
