Can anyone clarify why when Webb knocked Gardener into touch with his knees and gave away a penalty why "penalty try" was not given or even considered?

Had Webb not gone in with his knees, would Gardner have been certain to score? No. Ergo, no penalty try.

Because he wasn't denying a clear try-scoring opportunity. Look again and you will see that Hall had already dragged Gardner's legs over the touchline as Webb slid in.

If his legs were already in that's fine. Otherwise it was a bad decision.

Maybe becuase simple maths will not take account of the distortions caused by cameras?



Isn't that why they decided not to allow VR decisions on forward apsses?

And Lee Smith actually has very flexible legs - whilst his body was infront, his feet were actually on our own 10m line.



This isn't obvious on a camera.
