| Quote J20="J20"On form this season Foster has been far better than both Briscoe (who tbf had a good game Friday) and Ryan Hall who has done little in 2 seasons (and I rate him highly) so really should have got the nod, he's young and confident and would have been a great attitude to have around the camp IMO.
As for Lomax, well you ask who is the form British number 6 and it would have been between him and Kevin Brown simple as that (Briers was never getting a look in if were being honest).'"
Foster has had a good year but tbh he is way off Briscoe. Tom has been a little off colour in recent weeks but is by far the most dangerous outside back we have. He is capable of making a try from absolutely nothing and does so fairly often. On top of that he carries the ball really strongly, wins penalties, gets plenty of offloads and tackles well. His only weakness is probably under the bomb. He isnt terrible but he doesnt like it when a steepling kick goes to his corner.

| Lomax is a quility player. Cannot understand why he didn't play against the exiles and we went for a "support playing" 7 and a loose forward at 6. Glad we played the Exiles because hopefully Mcnamara will now drop Myler completely and either play Sinfield at 13 or not at all. If we'd have played France we'd have battered them and everone saying Myler and Sinfield are our saviours, then we would have got battered in the 4N. If i was to pick my half bak pairing now id go for Brough (if fit) at 7, Widdop at 6 with Lomax covering both positions.
Fosters the defintion of average, just so happens to be a world class goal kicker. He's a good finisher, but how many of his tries have been more than 10m out? Doesn't work anywhere near hard enough for me (which is such an important attribute for a winger) His defence isn't great either. He's just a goal-kicking version of Ade Gardner, scores plenty of tries (most of them just falling over the line) and look where that got us. Although i'd say Gardner was playing better than Foster because of the amount of metres he chewed up for his team.
For me the wingers in contention are;
Briscoe
McGilveray (spelling?)
Hall
Broughton

| Lomax should be in – no doubt. His all round game is some way ahead of Myler and the halves for the 4 Nations should come from a combination of Brough, Widdop and Lomax
I have nothing against Foster and he is a solid winger with good skills but I don’t think he is suited to international league where wingers have to do a lot of working bringing the ball out of their own half – for me, McGilvray and Briscoe are the best in the comp at this and are good finishers too. These two and Hall should be in the squad

| Assuming you've got anther goal kicker, there's better wingers for england than Foster, although he'll do nicely for Saints. I think if he's to kick on, it won't be as a winger, but as a centre or fullback.
Lomax is a star of the moment and I would prefer him at half back to Myler, but let's face it, its only a matter of time before he gets his chance.

Or, he could be the next Tommy Martyn/Lee Briers and never pull on the shirt in his career

| All this Foster talk is irrelevant really. As long as McBanana is in charge all England's wingers will be required to do is return kicks. Finishing ability is not an issue because the ball never leaves the middle of the park when we've got it

Quote The Ginger Pearl="The Ginger Pearl"Foster is a Darrell Goulding who can kick goals, just look at his stats compared to Josh Charnley, despite Charnley playing less games: www.superleague.co.uk/statistics ... eason=2011
Lomax on the other hand is superb and I would love to see a halfback partnership of him and danny brough in the 4 nations.'"
Well from the Stats that I would consider to be important to a winger it suggests that they are very even. Charnley has a slight better try scoring rate 0.75 to 0.79, however fosters first few games were off the bench for the last 10 minutes. On average charnley makes about 70cm more per carry which isn't very much considering he has a bigger frame than foster. Tackle busts Are an area that charnley wins hands down but foster has more clean breaks, less penalties conceded and less missed tackles. Add to that foster is one of the best kickers around and there is no reason why you would pick charnley ahead of foster.

| There was an article on the RFL site today about Lomax and his possible future England career.
I'm a Wigan fan and although Foster probably isn't quite ready, he's much better than Charnley.
I agree with the Ben Jones-Bishop mention as well. Theres many players coming up so hopefully by 2013 we might win the World Cup!
