I would have thought most English people would laugh it off as an obvious joke in the same way that Americans would at jokes about them all being thick and fat, or Germans as all strict and efficient, or Aussies as all XXXX drinking, criminals. Only someone incredibly insecure about their own or another nations foibles and well known and oft-repeated stereotypes would take virtually anything posted on this thread as serious.

In fact the only person who is making an issue out of any of it or seems to think there is "an attitude" is you, who reacted very preciously to a light hearted comment from Starbug and then made a mountain out of a molehill of my post, which was, as rich86 pointed out, simply referencing well known stereotypes from TV comedy shows and general cliches.The fact that you reacted so badly to it means you are either trolling or it shows your insecurity or general preciousness. Quite why you had to bring the club I support into it and then resort to personal abuse I have no idea since you have no idea of my background, education or my views.

The thing about what Tim2 was noting isn't all an 'obvious joke' as you put it - for example lots of english ARE actually xenophobic and racist (just like most french people I know) and they are mostly arrogant still believing all things british is best including the football Premiership which is full of foreigners btw and many of them are troublemakers at certain holiday resorts abroad etc etc this is not a joke,it's fact !

Its a strange hypocrisy for your argument against the stereotype used by Big Rob to use stereotypes (in a more serious tone) itself.

The English Premiership is definitely the best, full of foreigners or not :p Its by far the quickest, most exciting league in Europe! (Can't really comment on the rest of the world as I never see any of their matches)
