If you don’t like this topic then I highly recommend you either ignore it or lobby a moderator to throw it in the bin. But you wouldn’t do that no, because then you’d see yourself as fickle as these rugby league fans with the big chip on their shoulder. If anyone has a big chip on their shoulder then its YOU.

Hello there.

Seen as you have both taken the time and trouble to complain, I thought it was only right to offer up an apology.

Though you may not believe it, I actually am a fan of rugby league, having been born and brought up in Blackpool and having taken in plenty of Blackpool Borough games in the late 1970s and 1980s. I even played at Borough Park on a regular basis. I also worked on a sports paper in Sydney where, as you will know, rugby league is king.

However, I clearly upset you with my lame attempt at humour last week so for that I apologise.

It is a weekly challenge to not just produce a boring list of what's coming up, fixtures-wise, but clearly my attempt to liven things up was ill-judged.

I hope you continue to enjoy the rest of the sports section - and we will have a big Super League preview in next week's paper!
