| Question... would Harlequins RL be around if it wasn't for Ian Lennegan's two million?
Isn't the key issue not he should relinquish 65% for nothing but rather why in over two years hasn't anybody come out and bought or at least shown a media interest in buying his shares?

That said, if my aunt had bollox would she be my uncle? Also, if Wigan hadn't become available would quins be in this stew.....

Oh yes.....without a doubt.
If DH has thrown in 3.2 million over 2 years.....then this equates to IL pumping in 6.4 million........AS WELL! but he didn't have to.........because he made a deal.....
IL got what he wanted......but didn't deliver on the other part...ie....selling us on......so I say Wigan stripped of the Hub Cap...deducted 35 points and immediately demoted to the championship (replaced by widnes) ........

| Quote Tricky2309="Tricky2309"Trouble is with the RFL you always have the suspicion they are not being entirely honest and unless they come out and say exactly what they have done in this instance and support it with meaningful facts and figures, it is again going to look like they have a hidden agenda. Plus it still seems strange that DH has only decided to pull them up about it now (be interesting to see what proportion of the GBP 1.5m a year he puts in relates to development).'"
You are of course assuming that the RFL can maintain a secret agenda, which given they can't maintain a coherent open agenda, would be a surprise.
On a more serious note I suspect David Hughes has finally started making a noise as it has become obvious that the RFL won't make any move regarding the Ian Lenegan situation without a good deal of prompting.

Well respected rugby league journalist Dave Hadfield states that "new investment has been found, although not from the League."'"
like most journalits wrong most of the time too! Though this statement is quite light weight so should be right in a sense!

| We can all guess wrongly or rightly what is going on at Quins RL.....but Dave Hadfield would hardly waste copy space with a guess.
My feelings on this are that the club had an investor lined up who was willing to take over, but not at the price IL wanted for his shares. As IL was in breach of the deal he struck when he bought Wigan, I believe that David Hughes may have asked the RFL to get involved to force IL's hand. Mt Lenegan was nearly 12 months late in disposing of his shares in Harlequins Rugby League and I would think was given litte choice other than to relinquish his shareholding in either one of the 2 clubs he owns. As it is, his delaying this disposal has cost quins valuable time in player recruitment for 2011 as well as the loss of a few players who we may have tried to keep for next year.
If, as reported, there is a new owner of the club, then this is pretty much a non-event to everyone outside of the London RL community as it is purely a business transaction that has taken place.....but I could be well of the mark.....either way, I have no doubt that we will be flooded with knuckledragger posts about how the RFL have bailed us out AGAIN and how it's terrible that a club like Haven aren't geting the millions of pounds a week that Quins RL receive.
Nothing like a good conspiracy theory to keep trolls happy

Interesting thing would be have their been ANY bids or even enquiries for IL's shares?
He can't sell if no-one wants to buy so blame him all you want really!

IL Buys into Harlequins RL. As the majority owner, he pumps in cash.
IL Buys Wigan with the condition that he relinquishes any interest in Quins RL in a given timescale which he agrees to.
Nobody wants IL's shares or to pay the alleged 2 million he wants back
IL does not adhere to his agreed timesscale
DH asks for clarification fro the RFL
IL has to relinquish his shares.
I do not blame IL for anything. He is another reason we still have a club in the south East....and it was very unfortunate (for him) that he bought us and THEN Wigan became available...I feel for the guy, but he agreed to the RFL's demands regarding dual ownership.....
In fact, I respect IL......the story about him selling his BMW in the 80's for 8,500 quid to help his company...which he sold 11 years later for 200 million is proof he knows what he is doing!

I thought the RFL was the main financial back of the club?
