I'm sorry...but thats a fact.
9 times out of 10 Aussie players come here from the NRL if they have been awarded the *DCM from their own clubs back home.
*Dont Come Monday.
This can be for a variety of reasons...age, quality and poor health top the list.
I can't see how anyone could disagree with that.
Its like owning a Porsche. Great cars. Look fantastic, drive even better. A real performance machine.
But like all things in this life they start to go wrong. They are expensive to repair. You fix it up because you love it. But bits break. That car ends up costing you a motza in repairs.
So what do you do with it?
You sell it to some bloke who is impressed by the name but ultimately doesnt know what he is looking for.
There we have it folks. Thats why you get so many of our players that cant cut life in the NRL any more.'"
Like orford, hicks, tandy, whatuira, walker, faoso(sp), riddell? to use your analogy it looks like we are selling the porsche back with a few more miles on the clock  |

The fact that someone like Tandy can walk straight back into an NRL first team line up tells you:
A) The NRL stocks are as low as ours
B) They are decent players who come to SL
C) The jnr development programs in Oz are struggling and the Toyota cup hasn't done what they hoped it would.

because Tandy can get a starting team position! If there were quality young props being developed then a plodder like Tandy would be at best in a NSW cup side.
There has been much discussion about wether the Toyota cup is succeding in producing 1st grade ready players , especially in the forwards.

I read somewhere that 65% of the Toyota Cup players were Kiwi qualified........if this is correct then it would point to a lack of Australian talent coming through.
