| Bad decision. Evidently nobody wanted him and he doesn't fancy spending his winter on a building site. Nothing good will come of this.

| I think it's great news. Yes he's hot headed but on his day he's brilliant.

| Good decision.
Never this season could I envisage our owner sitting down with a player and quietly achieving a negotiated turn-round. No sound-bytes, no twitter rants, no bragging to the papers.
That in itself is something I am very happy about.
Also, Hock is a damn fine player. I'd rather have him tearing up the opposition 2nd rowers and centres than tearing up ours.
Kill the fatted calf.

| Hmmmmmm, undecided. Devastating on his day and undoubtedly one of the best back rowers in the country.
But and it’s a big BUT, I honestly think it’s one of two reasons why he has stayed; (a) no one wanted him (b) he couldn't get anywhere near what he's earning here so he’s thought better of it.
Anyway, I'm willing to forgive and forgot.

| At the end of the day, Gareth is a singular brain organism that sometimes malfunctions, however, until the ref incident, that quite frankly he could've and should've avoided, Gareth had been by far our most consistent player..
I for one will judge him from performance alone - his character off the pitch can only be judged by the Almighty come reckoning day!!!!!!

| The decision was made last summer , when we signed him on a 4 yr deal..
Since then he has forgotten his trunks for swiming with McBanana., Forgotten to avoid a Ref, but he has apparantly remembered what side his bread is buttered on .
I guess realisation dawned it's better the devil you know .I would not imagine another employer would have taken the risk or given similar terms for the remaining 3 years of his Salford Deal.
The club accepted the responsibility to manage Gareth a devastating but unpredictable player last Sept, so bothhad best get on with their jobs.

| I've got a soft spot for Hock.
He's certainly an interesting character, and let's face it, I'd rather have him on our side than against us.
He needs a quiet and professional 2015 mind.

| That's the thing with Gareth. There are enough good things to make you pleased if he's at your club and enough bad things to make you're pleased if he isn't. There's no right answer.
On the good side, prior to his referee related incident, some of his playing statistics were very impressive. He was offloading at more than one in every four tackles, a pretty incredible rate that no other player was within a country mile of (Leon Pryce had the same number of offloads, but from two or three times as many carries). He wasn't conceding many penalties either, and was nowhere near the top on that count. This contradicts the general consensus on other forums that he's a past-it penalty machine, but I think we've already established that for the fans of some clubs, fact checking is less important than having something to criticise.
On the bad side....take your pick.

| I would rather have a Salford team that included Gareth Hock in it than didn't. I assume this will be a boost to the rest of the squad too, as it is well known the majority were gutted he wanted to leave. Seems he was a big personality in the dressing room to - I just hope differences have been put to one side by both sides (club and Hock).

| For me Gareth is the best strike second rower in world rugby. I also thought he'd knuckled down and was working hard to keep his nose clean at Salford. Then came the infamous referee incident which I didn't think was as bad as most commentators made out. At the time no-one noticed and this includes the referee and all the Hull fans right in front of the incident.
Due to his previous he got 8 matches which I feel made him disillusioned.
I personally think it's great that he's decided to stop and it seems like a new signing. Lets hope he can continue playing for us like he did at the start of the season for the next three years.
