What happened to the SJ part of Eccles?

Cavendish - the point HBR is making is that is you are approached by one of the "big clubs" then you are most likely to be swayed by that rather than your home town club who have been struggling for years.

I'll tell you why this lad wasn't scouted, its due to the sheer folly bias in the Salford academy ranks with lee spencer (jack spencer's dad) one of the main academy coaches put pete carey and Sam Rainford there (all folly coaches) even though our current national confrence team is EsJ they don't get a sniff? Saying that Salford have never been interested in Eccles A.R.L.F.C actually apart from ian watson i can't think of one salford player coming from the eccles club? Disgrace really when you think eccles produce easily the best open age team in salford, well what's salfords loss is wigans gain, i know payden well my youngest brother went to school with him, and if you asked him face to face would he like to play for the reds he'd snap your hands off! But if Alan Hunte isn't going to bother setting foot at this lads amature club then i say good luck at Wigan payden they'll look after you their.

Or the fact that in the past few years there hasn't been an age group at Eccles/Langworthy at 16's level that has had a player good enough?

What like payden? I'll tell you the reason eccles don't have good youth its due to the lack of help from Salford, The reds should be advertising in the papers for players to go down and play for Eccles and help with abit of funding like they do with folly, what actually happens with the kids at eccles is they get that fed up with the lack of interest they go across te rd to the dark side (Eccles RU) and play there where they are well looked after and this is where payden went to play before rejoining Eccles a.r.l.f.c open age, nearly all the Rugby union players go back to the league team in the end, this is why they continue being the best open age side in salford.

Anyway, like i said previously when Candland was the age at which foundation teams etc are picked he simply wasn't good enough. He is now though which is obviously why he's at Wigan and i'm pretty sure they spotted him playing representative games rather than playing for Eccles.

The Valentine cup? Eccles never put a full strength side out in that tournament anymore the rather concentrate on the national conference league instead.



You don't just suddenly become good its always there its just that you need to spot that talent and that’s what Salford have never done with young lads from the area,



I personally remember when Callum Watkins was palmed away from the folly lane club the reason being (he just doesn't have it) he then went onto play for latchford where he was given a chance and as they say the rest is history!

Salford have never had a good reputation for good scouting we've had players like Harrison Hansen and Adrian Morley slip from the net and when we have a small pool of talent like Salford (due to soccer domination) we can't afford to turn a blind eye anymore.

Put them against lads from the wigan saints warrington academy's and you'll realise their not that good? The game needs sorting at grass roots level in Salford with unbiased views most importantly.

It isn't absolute bollox... i was very good friends with cashley his brother and callum's dad also who told me about the situation and shortly after he was booted off the salford scholership also, i could even name the coach who stated she didn't see anything in him (i was there when the words came out of her mouth), i won't say who she is but she is one of the few female coaches at folly,
