| Serious question - does anyone know who is paying for the costs of the building the new stadium? Are Peel picking up the tab for it all with the club putting in whatever selling the Willows fetches?

| How dare Salford have a talented young player like Richard Myler. It just isn't right.

There's a serious message in there. I hope this guy stays at Salford - for a few years anyway. The game doesn't want to get into a habit of rich bitches picking off talent at will whenever they feel like it.

Yep I agree, obviously . If Myler goes at the end of the season I'll be completely disillusioned with the whole franchise system already. Warrington giving us a shed load of cash completely defeats the point of it all. Why develop the players if it's still the same old story of "bigger" clubs poaching the best talent from those with less money

I think Peel once the race course is settled, John Whittaker is worth about £1.3B (Times Rich List 2009) so I think he may have some spare change, but it depends on Race Course and Port Salford IMO, or they would have been building by now.

Thanks for the reply, fingers crossed I guess.

If I was a pessimist I wouldn't say he sounded too convincing, there were no guarantees in the interview.

Naturally I hope we can offer him a suitable deal and he stays, but would it not be fair to say Widnes did the developing with Myler?

He's not yours though is he? It's not like you have a god given right to him, you signed him (fairly, mind) off us. Can't moan if he moves on.

Yeah they did obviously do a lot of the work but we also gave him a starting role in NL1 (Im assuming he would have been starting for Widnes if he would have stayed there last season as well though) and SL and he's done nothing but improve since he arrived. We were in the right place at the right time when it came to signing him, given the circumstances surrounding Widnes at the time. For someone to come and flash the cash and buy him from us a year into his Super League career with us would be highly disappointing.

| In Myler we have for the first time in many years a player who is both talented and young enough to build an entire team around, we need to make him the biggest earner at the club (I think someone else mooted it but Paul will surely call it quits at the end of the season and the money this free's up should go to secureing Myler, Turner and Adamson long term - not topping up a 30+ yr old Aussies pension scheme).
Myler is without doubt in my eyes the medium to long term future at scrum halve for the England and GB set up, so to let him go now without the biggest fight would be pure folly.
Getting this right would go some way to appeaseing the fans who are getting increaseingly frustrated with the stadium debacle.
