| Quote Diavolo Rosso="Diavolo Rosso"I'd definitely check that slogan with someone at the club, as there are plenty of sensitive souls about (apparently) who might find something like that offensive.
I always fancied doing a banner that said "LES DIABLES ROUGES S'ELEVANT" (The Red Devils are rising ... may be slightly off, anyone with better French is welcome to correct it).'"
This why the entire world should speak England like what we does.
Here's the reply and it just opens a can of worms.
Quote Diavolo RossoYou want to say that they are gaining force, that they are getting better and stronger?'"
Is there an answer to that?

| Just had another reply.
Quote Les Diables Rouges gagnent du terrainHave been thinking about it and for me the best slogan - in case you do want to express what I wrote in the previous message - would be : "Les Diables Rouges gagnent du terrain" which means that they have gained strength (force) and became (a) more important (team that deserves respect and consideration now). They are climbing the ladder of success... What do you think'"
Sounds good to me.

| Banner sounds a good idea but I'd be more inclined to go with something basic like Les Diables Rouges/Dirty Old Town/Salford RLFC.
I'd leave all the 'welcome to hell' stuff to the club as it's more of a branding thing, it's really got very little to do with Salford RLFC or the fans. On a practical level, it'd be embarrassing if we're getting slammed by someone or if the ground has got 15 people in for a cup tie versus Hunslet. All the Latin/French stuff is a bit poncified for me.
Either way, good luck with getting it started and past the politburo at the stadium. As someone else mentioned banners can be a nightmare to put up every week as well.

| While it has been mentioned, can we lose the links to "Dirty old Town" when dealing with visiting fans...
the last verse doesn't do Salford proud:
"I'm going to make,
Me a good sharp axe;
Shining steel,
Tempered in,
the Fire.
I'll chop you down,
Like an old dead tree.
Dirty old town, ..."
And there's nobody more a fan of James/McColl than me.

| I don't have a problem printing a banner at my job and I'm more than happy to fund this myself; I just need someone to design it for me as my attempt is a bit rubbish.
Personally I think we need as many banners as possible for the start of the new season. If it gets picked-up on Sky's Super League coverage it could potentially entice more people to the ground to watch us.

Sorry fella, that's just merde. It also means "the red devils are making ground" which sounds like we're celebrating finally getting out of our own half!
Personally I'd go with "Les Diables Rouges se réveillent", meaning "the red devils awaken". Or stick with something in English.

| I am so old that my Latin lessons were in the middle of the last century, but some of the Welcome to Hell translations feel wrong. There was no Latin word for "Welcome" as it comes fro the German and the Romans had other phrases. Bene venitus seems too welcoming and circumspice (Look around at) may annoy the City of Salford.
If you want a real Latin phrase, why not "Oderint dum metuant".
MR could use it for his friends in Swinton.
When we play Wigan, Leeds, Saints and Warrington, we could use "Praeteritum tuum, sed futurum meum".
Duabus selus sedeo.

| Unless we're expecting Michael Gove to come to games I think we can give Latin a swerve.
