Talking about injuries straight after a match is a bit daft, really. With bumps and knocks, it's typically the case that you need to give them a couple of days before you can make a proper assessment. All Sam needed to say was "we've picked up a few knocks, so we'll have to see how they go", or words to that effect. Maybe it was his intention to keep everyone guessing, as Or Thane suggests, or perhaps he was just being honest but pessimistic.
