| Quote Broxy Music="Broxy Music"Wire have been the best team all year but there is a lack of winning mentality from both fans and coach. For me Smith seemed happy at the cup defeat so you could focus on this and yes you have been punished by the pathetic play off system, but there are no positives from tonight! End of the day wire bottled the two most important games this year! Hard Lines but you should expect better'"
The problem I see here is when we chose to 'bottle it'.
Wigan bottled it last year, but did it at the time when they still had the chance to redeem themselves, we chose to bottle it at the point of no return.
I think last night will hurt for a long time, I think it'll hurt us the fans but not half as much as it will people in that dressing room. They're the ones who've made the sacrifices, put their bodies on the line all that stuff and it's not got them the rewards that they sought. There's plenty of players in that dressing room who might not get another attempt at a GF appearance and it'll stick in the throat for some time.
We've learnt a tough lesson last night, a cruel lesson. Very difficult to swallow, but mustn't take credit away from Leeds, they managed to get us away from our gameplan, and made us produce a very un-Warrington (recent times) performance, both stucturally (is that a word) and emotionally.
I just hope when the dust settles, we can come again next year.

| It was a great game that could have gone either way. Very entertaining, and if you'd made a few more correct decisions with ball in hand, like briers taking the DG rather than going for a try near the end, you may have won.
Unfortunately some of you clearly aren't taking it too well, talk of banning anyone who disagrees with you and the pure abuse being thrown at Wigan fans in general is pretty small time (no doubt you'll take this as trolling even though I'm just stating the obvious and praising a good game)

| Quote the flying biscuit="the flying biscuit"Massive Strides for the wire this Year .....massive......lets not be taken in by the little spotty retards from Wigan trying to wind us up We have been the best team in the league by some distance...
and as I have said before on this board I didnt think we would win the Grand final, and possibly not even get there, as we have to be fair come from nowhere in terms of the playoffs. All the other clubs have been in the mix before, then made the finals, and lost a final, before winning one....
so its all about being in the semi's being minutes away from Old trafford and knocking on the door...
next year we'll be better prepared
and hopefully the RFL will understand that deciding to not penalise holding down in the final two rounds of the year is a bit of a mickey take and makes a mockery of a seasons worth of effort,
I'm not that gutted to be honest.....nowhere near as bad as the maine road semi loss in 89...it's been a great season and sooner or later Ganson has got to retire or get involved in a scandal of some sort.....'"
Honest question.
Do you think you will get as good a chance as last night to make the grand final?
In top form, complete team, home game against 5th place?
I don't.

| Quote wire1="wire1"Arrogance? At what point was we arrogant? Tony smith didn't go as he does not agree with the club call system, how is that arrogance?
Most people who have bought grand final tickets are going anyway, i think I have seen one person on here who shown them self up about being in the 'barmy army' end but other than that people were going anyway.'"
Smith not turning up for the club call showed how much disrepect he showed for last nights game and the competition his team plays in. It was arrogant of him not to show up....if you cant see that your deluded!!. It doesnt matter if he doesnt agree with the club call, he's a professional coach in a preofessional sport.

| You've been unbelievable at times this year, but from someone who's lost their fair share of Final Eliminators, it is a step up to deal with the pressure.
Next time round you'll have the experience to know how to deal with the occasion.

| Someone on another post said they can't get over it, we were the best team by miles this year and yet we still haven't got to OT. Can't help but feel the same. Worried for where we go from this for next season with major players leaving it could be a regression year rather than progression. Hope not!

well who knows....we heard this for many years every time we lost to Saints....never have a better chance to beat the Saints because Scully and Long are injured and so on, if you don't beat the Saints now you will never beat them....

Well having contested all playoff series since they started in 98 it's [umy opinion[/u you won't get a better chance.
That's not to say you won't do, probably when the odds are stacked against you you will.

It just about getting into a good enough position through the weeklys and then being able to win the pressure games.
It's a true test of champions IMO and bar football most major sports do use an end of season playoff to decide the champions.

Best team by miles? How do you make that out? You rightly finished LL but finished a whole 1 point above a Wigan side that's had to play 37 (?) consecutive weeks, including at least 2 finals! In addition you met Wigan in the league on both occassions when it best suited Warrington; 2 weeks after the WCC and the week following the CC final. On the one occassion the teams met with no distractions but the game in hand you were comprehensively outplayed. Putting big scores on lesser teams doesn not make you 'the best team by miles'. In the 2 games that really mattered this season you've come up short.
If you'd want to lay claim to being the 'most consistant team this year' then that might be a fair assessment, both in the positive and negative sense, but you did it under the most favourable conditions a season could possibly offer. To be the 'best by miles' you need to be able to handle the pressure of the big games, win under adversity and in the process carry all before you. Not win the LL by 1 point and crash out of both major competions without making in a single final! Get a grip man!
