Danny McGuire said something very similar after we played them at the HJ this year. I guess they don't live in a bubble and they read the trade press etc, some of them probably look on here too, though I hope they swerve it. The 'win it from fifth' thing must get into their head, but lets remember it is nothing new. I don't for one minute think that any of those players go out not wanting to win or achieve their individual targets set during the week with the coaching staff.

Some supporters were rubbished on here for suggesting players aren't viewing the league games as being important.



Atkins certainlys seem to be leaning towards 'oh well its only a league game'.

I think we all have to accept that rl players are the sharpest tool in the box, I think we all get what Atkins meant.

I don't think that is the case because this is his full time job, players are assessed after each game on a point based system and if he has a bad game that will be reflected in his score, as such he will get flogged during the week. I think it is just an error of judgement and frustration of his behalf.



Compare to Ryan Hal who wrote last night "For all those whole tell us how bad we are, tonight you may have a point. Stick with us. We don't turn bad over night".

Hall is saying they were poor last night.. Atkins is suggesting something entirely different.

IMHO the lad's core skills just aren't good enough. His catching and passing are poor at best. At least twice during the Hull FC game he attempted a pass from dumm half and made a complete dog's dinner of it and the attack broke down. I also remeber a game last year where he threw the ball straight in touch about 3 times!

I suggest you watch the play off semi final against Saints again....people on this site have VERY short memories.



FFS..this is a centre that has scored and set up tries in Grand finals,Challenge cup finals and all the semi finals and quarter finals along the way.

I don't think it's an attitude thing at all - fans and players alike want to win every week - but in sport in general (not just RL), some games are bigger than others.



He's always delivered for us in those games, and will do so again.

I wish we had ypu as our coach as you are obviously better than Tony Smith, Steve McNamarra and all the coaches who have coached Atlkins in the past, as they didnt see that his core skills were crap or they wouldnt have signed him in the first place or got rid of him. How embarrased must the scout be that first spotted him as a kid.

Ryan atkins is an internation quality and when on form one of the best attackers and defenders in the country, yes he is finding good form hard to come by at the minute but the class is still there and will shine through soon.

His core skills are poor without any doubt. In fact Tony Smith picked him out during a coaches education meeting as being unable to pass when he first joined the club. He has improved since but is hardly a rugby league playing natural and relies on his athletic ability.

There are more core skills than passing, like ball carry, tackle evasion agility etc and i would rate him very high at these even if his passing is not up to speed for you all. So can we agree that his core skills are not poor maybe just his passing is a bit suspect, the rest are world class, hence the reason that he is a top class rugby player apparantly wanted by the other code for his skill
