| Quote NickyKiss="NickyKiss"If Ade Gardner can play for Saints and GB(England) then Kevin Penny can achieve plenty aswell.
I'd back Smith to mould him into a good winger. The thing i noticed about him tonight was how safe and solid he looked. He always been a threat and could score sensational trys but tonight for the first time i can remember he didn't looks like a rabbit in the headlights in defence and coped pretty well with anything we threw at him.'"
Good to see opposing fans can see his potential, both ourselves and Wigan have got some real promising players coming through along with St Helens which bodes well for the North West region as a whole

The game as a whole seems to be getting itself in shape and it's not before time.
Tomkins, Ainscough, Mossop, McIlorum and Flanagan are really looking the business for us and our 18th man for tonight(Liam Farrell) really needs to get a game soon. He's an outstanding prospect.
Ian Lenagan has said we won't be signing anybody for next year and if that means these lads continue to get opportunities i'm all for it.
Keep signing Aussie deadlegs isn't getting us anywhere.

| he has gained alot of confidence from his loan spell with us seen as he scored at a rate of a try a game and that confidence clearly shown tonight
as many other people have mentioned he did save 3 tries and didnt do much wrong
if you aren't completly satisfied with him you could always send himback to us
we would take him of your hands

| Quote Warrington Wolf="Warrington Wolf"Thought he has had a shocker tonight. Would like to see how people on here could defend him? He has played at Widnes so gametime is not an issue.
Whilst he can't be on that much by getting rid of him and a few others will help get better quality replacements into the squad.
This is not a sour grapes thread, its a one of opinion. I didn't think we were going to win tonight looking at our team.
Oh but were going to Wembely Que Sera Sera......
P.S Thank god Gleeson scored as Wigan would have had the receipt out looking for a refund'"
I'll defend him cocker.
He had a good game. Looked pretty solid throughout and saved a couple of certain tries.
What exactly is it that he has done wrong tonight?
Also, who are these better quality replacements that we should sign? Any suggestions?
How on earth can you say that he had "a shocker"?

Always had this niggling feeling in the back of my mind about why certain sections of Warrington's support seem to dislike Penny so much.'"
The most worrying thing is that they don't even know why.

| He shoots out of the line over and over again, he needs to cut down on that and learn when the time is right for an intercept or when he should stay on his man.
It cost us at least a couple of tries and a few repeat sets.
I'd like to see him do well but I think we have better wingers coming through, so he'll have to work really hard.

| Felt sorry for Penny last night as I knew that a thread like this would start. He did ok for me, saved a fair few tries, defused the low and high kicks aimed at him all night.
He does rush out the line but if he stayed there and let the inside men waltz through he'd get slated for that too.
I'd have liked to have seen how he would have done if the "normal" team had been playing and only Hicks had Swapped for Penny.
There were much worse performers out there tonight but none of them let the club down, they put the effort in all night and with the amount of changes to the team this was the only result that was going to happen.
Constructive Criticism is fine in my book but not on a team full of inexperienced young kids.

| Quote Maco7="Maco7"Give the man a break, i still feel he could be one of the biggest attacking threats in Super League, look how long Saints stook with Ade Gardner before he started to become more of a consistent winger, the mans got talent, he's from Warrington, Why on christs earth do some fans not get behind him!!!!!!!!!!!!'"
Spot on!

| Team on the back foot, behind a beaten pack. Second half, christ knows who was at halfback, who cares.
Best opportunity he had was from a Westwood grubber in his own 10m that he didn't have a chance of getting.
Still, lets bag the enthusiastic kid, the one tried his best, did well defensively, dealt with various kicks put his way, stopped a couple of certain trys by being in good positions (that will go down as errors on OPTA as he didn't catch them) and would have scored barring Richards doing the same to him in the first half.
You could've had Lesley Vainikolo on that wing tonight, he'd have done nothing.

| I find it interesting that the OP hasn't yet been back to explain exactly why he thinks Penny was so poor last night. Methinks he's sat at home watching the game again and can't find a reason, it's just mindless slagging off.
