I'm actually surprised by reading this thread - i always saw Wire and Widnes as big rivals - in the 80's and 90's it was a massive rivalry and by reading this it seems now that it has almost drifted away.



Maybe thats because Widnes have spent a large chunk recently not playing Wire regularly therefore lots of 'new' Wire fans haven't experienced the rivalry as such and dont consider them rivals anymore.

Seems strange to see Widnes been listed as almost the 3rd choice rivals to Wire these days.

It's because widnes are a laughing stock. They're no threat. It's like a lion having a rivalry with a badger. If they get good again then the rivalry will fire up. However, by then we'll all be playing Cyberball on the moon anyway.

Speaking of nasty, went for a run down a canal towpath t'other day (look at me, I exercise, how cool am I?) and I had a run in with some geese. Hissing at me they were. I used the tried and tested clapping technique to distract them. The same technique can be used to distract Wiganers - it confuses them.
