| I do wonder if he might regret that decision, at the stage in his career where he should want to test himself at the higher level not take a step down.
All about individual aspiration I suppose, but he'll rip champ 1 to pieces - and it's at least 2 years before he gets a chance in SL again.
All the same, good luck and thanks for the 100% commitment, our best centre by far this season IMO

| Taking less of a bashing to your body and getting paid more (by all accounts) = a better decision does it not? The lads that have signed for Toronto apparently know what they are doing.

When you have achieved your personal goals financial goals become important, if he was sat in front of two contracts now and asked to choose I don't see him in Canada

| A chance to travel, be part of history by being a founding player at the start of a brand new club - sounds like a fantastic challenge. Don't blame the lad at all.
Watched him in his academy days for us, never quite hit the heights then but was part of a poor academy side at the time and had to follow in the footsteps of cudjoe, Lawrence (then a back) and mcgilvary so wasn't really given a chance to prove himself.
Hope he enjoys himself, travels that part of the world and makes some decent money in the process!

| You've got to wonder why a player would turn down a SL contract and a pay rise to go play for half the money two leagues lower haven't you? Don't any of you think that's strange?

| It's got nothing to do with us really has it. If you are trying to suggest problems (again), perhaps you should ask yourself why he played to the end of the season and helped get us into SL and why he wasn't suspended for signing for Toronto like it has been suggested happened to others

Still looking for that smoking gun?
Haven't seen anywhere that he turned down a contract with us, might have missed something in a press release though.

Toronto are running with the full salary cap from day one. Which means they can pay SL wages. What makes you think he's gone for half the money?

| Greg saw his job through and behaved professionally on the field with admirable performances, steadying the ship in the back line during our push for Super League right through to the end. His best performances were often against our toughest opponents.
Whatever the reason for his departure he was very good value whilst he was with us and he should be allowed to leave with all of our very best wishes.
The point made by several that the Toronto bound players could be having their heads turned by the opportunity 'to travel' may indeed be true. However, from experience, I can assure everyone that after the third trip over the pond the novelty will rapidly wear off. The perceived excitement of repetitive international travel is just a peception. In reality the tiresome 8 hour journey coupled with the 5 hour time change in both directions messes up most peoples' body clock. In addition, I imagine the players will be travelling 'Cattle Class' without the benefits of upgraded travel. Families will also rapidly tire of missing the head of their family for lots of reasons - their kids will especially dread waving off their dads for the umpteenth time. Just imagine a player being seriously injured and in hospital 3,400 miles from home.
I hope for the sake of all the players involved that this Canadian experiment does not badly backfire on them and their families.
