Still didnt feel like it did, when we bet Haven to win promotion to SL, what a game that was, a roller coaster ride from start to finish, went through every emotion going that day.

Steve worked for the sponsers- WINDOWCRAFT and we had free tickets and went Central park, Barry Ledger saved a try came over from opposite wing and tackled Henderson?, think it was Henderson he tackled.

John Henderson was a fantastic player and was one of my icons as a kid and fellow centre myself.



Ledger came from nowhere but Henderson had support left and right. That would have made it 14-14 with 15 mins to go.



Leigh were superb that day. I cried on the 593 bus back home because we should have beaten saints !! AND got to Wembley !!

And cant forget the year before when Fax were winning the league with a Draw at home against Fev which ironically enough was enough to save them from the drop and enough to pip Wigan for the title.

I got left at the services on the way home, managed to blag a lift of a coach dropping off at the Red Lion West Leigh, the coach was from Manchester and dropped me off at the Red Lion Lowton just in time to miss time, still a good day

All those old enough to have seen us crowned the best team in the country should count their lucky stars.
