| A chance to travel, be part of history by being a founding player at the start of a brand new club - sounds like a fantastic challenge. Don't blame the lad at all.
Watched him in his academy days for us, never quite hit the heights then but was part of a poor academy side at the time and had to follow in the footsteps of cudjoe, Lawrence (then a back) and mcgilvary so wasn't really given a chance to prove himself.
Hope he enjoys himself, travels that part of the world and makes some decent money in the process!

| You've got to wonder why a player would turn down a SL contract and a pay rise to go play for half the money two leagues lower haven't you? Don't any of you think that's strange?

| It's got nothing to do with us really has it. If you are trying to suggest problems (again), perhaps you should ask yourself why he played to the end of the season and helped get us into SL and why he wasn't suspended for signing for Toronto like it has been suggested happened to others

Still looking for that smoking gun?
Haven't seen anywhere that he turned down a contract with us, might have missed something in a press release though.

Toronto are running with the full salary cap from day one. Which means they can pay SL wages. What makes you think he's gone for half the money?

| Greg saw his job through and behaved professionally on the field with admirable performances, steadying the ship in the back line during our push for Super League right through to the end. His best performances were often against our toughest opponents.
Whatever the reason for his departure he was very good value whilst he was with us and he should be allowed to leave with all of our very best wishes.
The point made by several that the Toronto bound players could be having their heads turned by the opportunity 'to travel' may indeed be true. However, from experience, I can assure everyone that after the third trip over the pond the novelty will rapidly wear off. The perceived excitement of repetitive international travel is just a peception. In reality the tiresome 8 hour journey coupled with the 5 hour time change in both directions messes up most peoples' body clock. In addition, I imagine the players will be travelling 'Cattle Class' without the benefits of upgraded travel. Families will also rapidly tire of missing the head of their family for lots of reasons - their kids will especially dread waving off their dads for the umpteenth time. Just imagine a player being seriously injured and in hospital 3,400 miles from home.
I hope for the sake of all the players involved that this Canadian experiment does not badly backfire on them and their families.

When did he sign/agree that Toronto contract and was one on the table from Leigh at the time? In there will be your answer but Greg didn't play for 6 weeks at a crucial time when the 2017 squad was being assembled, he was third choice centre behind Armstrong and Tonga at that point, and after 1st May he was free to talk to other clubs - if he hadn't been approached beforehand.
I said earlier if he was making his choice at the end of the season he would be a Leigh player in SL - I firmly believe that but as a Leigh fan I am only interested in whats best for my club not casting aspersions about the owner who has funded our journey from his pocket unlike some who ran for the hills and never put a bean in the till.
Leigh will always have the have not, never will do, know it alls looking to sheeite stir, better we ignore them and ask what we can do for our club, not the other way round

Just because it wasn't in the press doesn't make it any less true. I also said that Bob Beswick and Liam Kay had been suspended which everyone shouted me down for and told me I was wrong - turns out that was true too.
Do you really think I'd post this stuff if it wasn't true?
I'm not sure why you say that I'm looking for a smoking gun because players come and go all the time and that's OK, I just don't like it when the wrong stories are talked about on social media like they are fact. I'm very much looking forward to what the new season will bring and how the new players gel but lets not do our past players an injustice and a disservice by slagging them off and slating their character.
The problem with most of the people on here and the FB page is that none of you want to hear the truth and if someone presents you with the facts that in any slight way might be seen to be detrimental to the club, you'd all rather shout 'trouble maker' than open your eyes to the truth. It's OK that sometimes things go wrong between clubs and players and I guess the measure of how a club treats it's staff is how those leaving feel about the club afterwards.
The truth will set you free.
