i had a lot of respect for the way the raiders went about their business last season, and the first part of this season, but these signings, coming after acquiring very good players like rooney and catic, are baffling at best and stupid at worst

Heard from a source close to the action at Barrow that Dave Clark was (allegedly) very unhappy about his chairmans interference in team affairs and particularly transfer policy. Heard that (allegedly) a number of recent signings were made against his wishes.

Seems to add up doesn't it?

As soon as Clark is pushed out of the door and an apparent 'yes' man is brought in, Johnston goes berserk on transfer deadline day!

I'd still love to know how they are doing on the salary cap. Barrow fans will no doubt say they are still way under it, but I can't see how. Top players like Catic, Rooney, Bracek, Luisi, Noone, etc. will not come cheap, and neither will the 'Oldham 5', for that matter. I wonder if Barrow are gambling heavily on a GF appearance this season, (and I would have fancied them until Widnes' re-emergence) then a points deduction next season wouldn't matter, as they had alrady ticked a SL application box?



Or is it like CC, in that they are all working for Mr. Johnston, and offereing to play for Barrow 'now and again' when not required to work for him?





As for Allen not joining us, well I'm not terribly disappointed, as I can think of other positions, where we are more exposed.

Funny thing is, had you lot signed any of these players they would be the dogs knackers !! Because Barrow signed them, none of them would get in any sides in the Championship. Makes me laugh !

But that's because we're in a poor position in the league and one or two signings could be make all the difference in staying up. We're not a side challenging for the top of the tree, having already appeared in a cup final and proclaiming to do things 'the right way', only for the chairman to have a brainfart and go on an unneccesary spending spree that could cost you dearly in both the short and long term.

Poor coach Deakin and he's another import ie Not from Barrow, have they tried this before? Paying lads from Lancs/Yorks big money p*ssing the local players off and utimately the fans as no local lads get a game!



Its all about next season unless you win get to the GF and hopefully from Leighs point of view that will be Widnes for one as then they will already have ticked as many boxes as possible so that we can tick away happily next season with our super team
