Well I have decided I will no longer be watching Leigh in protest at how they systematically stripped Widnes of the likes of Moran, Kohe-Love, Doran and Morrison in 2007.

Can not believe the amount of bad vibes here about Swinton.They have some good fans and Spelly is a top bloke who comes on the Widnes forum.Some of you Leythers are decent fans but some of you moan like hell.Frank B sort them out mate.

couldnt have put it better , spot on,Swinton wont be a threat to Leigh , not on gates of about 500, and neither will their team ,Ok they have a few ex-Leythers , but they dont worry me .

I will probably go on Sunday - can't see why not as I have watched them at Sedgley Park several times when we had no game as well as the odd Rochdale and Oldham home games. Nothing better than sitting back watching fans getting annoyed at the ref etc

and better still I can have a couple of beers beforehand.

I have no problem with any leythers watching Championship RL anywhere, SL on the other hand

I wouldn,t as you may be contributing to them being able to offer more money than us, to players we want to keep.

I agree with you! But with some people there has to be an enemy around every corner.



Don't these people understand that strong local clubs can only benefit Leigh in the long run? We keep moaning that there are so few Championship clubs this side of the pennines!



These people make it sound like every penny they earn is flowing straight into Leigh's coffers by direct debit and they don't spend their money on anything else.



What's the harm in keeping a tenner in the local, non-SL game that we claim to love rather than spending it on 2 or 3 pints down the pub?



I suspect Leyther Matt and people like him are not about to change allegiances because of it.



I for one would like to wish our Lancashire (well at least Non-Yorks/Cumbria) neigbours the best of luck this season (except when they are playing Leigh).

Its because of prats like those who post ridiculous comments on other teams why i very rarely post on here thesedays!



This has really shown up some people for what they are!

Its all about opinions the way I see it and I can see both 'groups' of fans having some validity in there respective stance.



Some Leigh fans like to watch any RL so don't mind paying to watch Swinton, Wigan or anyone so long as they see a match, whilst obviously having a favourite club they also like to pay to watch any pro or amateur club.

Other Leigh fans maybe just like to see the town amateur teams play and Leigh so concentrate on watching them.



Equally I'm sure Swinton fans will have the same divided opinion about watching Leigh/Salford.



Personally I'm glad in a way its slowly simmering as that means we may have got a club that people will class as a rival, after losing Hull KR to SL and now Widnes we need a fixture that has added extra spice

Do the leigh fans who are upset with Swinton playing at LSV not understand that we Lions fans would like nothing more than to be playing in a ground in our own town, sadly at the moment that isn't to be just yet hence we need to play somewhere.The willows is a non starter due to it's imminent demolision, the Barton stadium a non starter due to the high rental fee and sedgley park due to it's lack of facility required to play in the championship.

Thankfully the Leigh sports village was made available to rent and the Lions are doing no different to your own club, as a Lions fan I wouldn't expect hardcore Leigh fans to come watching the Lions nor would I expect Lions fans to come watching Leigh, no doubt certain supporters will come ..those that enjoy a good match and maybe don't like traveling to away games and that is where the it stops.

Swinton and leigh are two seperate clubs, yes players have joined us from your club but in fairness when they did there was a certain amount of uncertanty about Leigh which thankfully has been resolved, I don't see Leigh fans having a go at halifax for taking Mick Nanyn from you.!

I hope that as both clubs are the sole representatives this side of the Pennines we both prosper and have a good season and most of all cut this crazy sniping out.

Lets think about this now, apart from Swinton who is our local derby against?



It is imperative that Swinton stay in our league for the sake of a derby, added bonus is that We don't even need to travel to the away game either!



And anyhow its only for one season until their new ground is built...



Will Leigh be getting a share of the profits on Saturday?

I wonder how many of those opposed to watching the odd Swinton game actually subscribe to SKY Sports TV?



Well if you do you are contributing to SL teams being able to offer ALOT MORE money to players we would like to keep as well as killing the game at our level.

How can you say we will finish above Swinton with a squad as small as ours?

In terms of acutal squad members ( of which there are 21 ) i am sure not much different from last season minus the D/C of which we can still add 3 more of this year plus i belive very close to signing 2 more for the squad.



P.S if anyone wants to go and watch swinton when leigh not playing, it is surley thier progitive to do so, it will be good to have a bit of spice in our only derby this year !!!

It's good to see some sane minded find amongst a few of the hypocrites. RL is a game we all love and if you want to express to by going to as many games as possible, fantastic as you'll get the enjoyment out of it anyway

i went watching swinton last year with leyther matt and they have a good bunch of fans. cant wait to play them away this year, i hope we get put in the east stand

Would expect only the West Stand to be open - if memory serves me right it didn't even hit 1,000 when we played Swinton in an 'away' game at Hilton Park a few years ago.



I don't think the £9 or so that Swinton receive (before tax) from my match ticket on Sunday or indeed for any league games that don't clash with a Leigh fixture will be making too much difference to them outbidding us for players (and I still maintain only Mills is a player who would have been considered a first choice at Leigh regardless).



Looking forward to Sunday's game anyway, will be a good test for the Lions and it's always good to see Widnes lose

Well i will definitely try and watch Swinton this season when we are not playing, i think we could have a good local rivalry with them to be honest and wish them luck in the Championship.



Also you have to admire their loyal fans for what they have had to put up with, playing at different grounds and that, so i don't mind helping them, and wish them well in the future.

Matt, do you not think the North Stand will be open, as surely our fans will turn up as though it's an home game, so with the Swinton fans i would think it would be a good gate, or am i missing something?

Swinton will only be having the West stand open for their matches.

with the exception of when they play us surely? Our support will be greater than theres so we should see the north & west stand open for this one I'd imagine
