With social media such a big thing today and its free for the club to use i really am disappointed with how we do in this area compared to other clubs..



but i think also it highlights the demographic of our fan base... we have alot of older generation fans who prob dont tend to get involved with the social media side of things, lost generations of fans during the bad years

yes bottom of the pile, clearly needs to be improved, why are we so far behind, i have given one of the reasons above but also the club doesnt help itself but poor at marketing in general !

Can't win- folk moan they haven't heard anything because the announce it I social media. I think it has lots to do with our demographic. IMO there's no point the club using it extensively if it won't get to the majority.

yep think we have hit the nail on the head with our fanbase and why other clubs wonder why we cant get big crowds for our games now we are a top side



the newbie fans expect us to be winning things, the older ones remember how far we have come!



i still think the club could use social media better, with initiatives ....they could easily just look at what the other clubs do... the ones that are already using the social media will engage better and spread the word more with shares and retweets!

I think the last two replies have highlighted why we don't get big crowds! We have secured I would say a solid home support of around 5,000 now and the majority of those will come what ever the club does (I mean in terms of doing ok, not getting relegated)! The majority of them are also the older demographic, therefore we don't need to appeal to the older demographic, because they are already going! To say we don't need social media because we have mainly older supporters is precisely why we should use social media! Hull KR's use of social media is second to none, not only in RL but in sport in general, and in the last 2/3 years they have seen a massive upturn in attendances!

What is that Hull KR that's so good?



And why aren't Fartown doing it?

Maybe it's because they can't get a decent signal because of the hills

It needs someone who knows how it works and how to use it, it's outside normal marketing and is a developing medium



I'm no expert but I know people that are - when done right it's fantastic

yep i totally agree, lots of good things done by other clubs and i have mentioned them on here before in the past but we as a club dont seem to use initiative like the rest.... probably why also we are lagging way behind, really is poor in this day and age when everything is social media, the club should get someone in just for this side of things, would pay for itself with attracting new fans

Brearley, do you really think we will attract new fans by posting things on twitter and Facebook?

Hyde FC on Twitter started posting funny but relevant things a bout the club and it went viral! Their crowds almost doubled for about 3 months after it happened!

Due to followers, every time they tweet and advertisement or an offer they reach 45,000 people, compared to the others in their league, that's an extra 40,000! You can't honestly say social media won't impact crowds, too much evidence to support it! Hull KR is another point I made earlier!
